One of the more pleasant surprises of the entire weekend, Walsh is almost completely off the radar but showed real promise as a true ‘5’ with a translatable set of skills and tools. He uses his size and natural strength to fight for good position in the post where he’s a reliable finisher over his left shoulder. Walsh has soft hands and shows nice natural feel as a passer. While not very explosive vertically, he’s an effective area rebounder and changes ends comfortably. He’s not a stretch ‘5’ but has a clean free throw stroke with flashes of midrange shooting mixed in. Walsh is currently being recruited mostly as a pitcher but is open to basketball in college and could pay major dividends for almost any small-college program that invests in his development.
