The 6’5 wing has a turnaround jumper that’s just about automatic, and with his length and release point he was able to get shots off over size with no issue. Has impressive coordination to quickly get squared up off the catch and elevate for a jumper all in one fluid moment. With

John played a great game in a win over Westonka, totaling a game-high 28 points. I believe that this was also a career-high for the senior wing, as he could not miss on Saturday. He connected on six three-pointers, punishing the defense everytime they helped off of him. He was letting it fly with no hesitation, providing his team with momentum and energy after every make. Schmidt has a strong 6’5” frame and used that to attack the paint hard, converting on some tough finishes around the basket as well.

John hit a number of tough shots in the first half that helped counter a Chaska run. For a few minutes it just seemed like he couldn’t miss, as he was matching every Chaska make with one of his own. John hit some tough turnaround jumpers, and was using his long frame and high release point to shoot over length. With every shot he saw go in, his confidence just seemed to grow. In the second half I thought he did a great job of slowing down the Chaska size inside, and competing on the glass.

6’5” SG For MN Fury was all-business against D1 Minnesota . Spaces out well on the perimeter and took advantage of several open 3’s in the first half. Hit another tough shot from the corner to help regain the lead in the second half. Despite a losing effort, Schmidt proved to be super productive and did everything he can to keep this a close contest.
