In a tough matchup with Brookfield Central that went down to the wire, Joey was just on another level. The 2024 point guard has been a proven facilitator over the spring, but lit up the scoreboard in this particular game. Going off for 39 points, LaChapell rattled in three after three, mixing in some makes off the dribble with some off the catch. Was able to create separation off the bounce, and also found success relocating into space after passing the ball. Showcased college shooting range, but also showed he’s tough as nails driving to the hoop and scoring through contact. That included the go ahead finish at the rim with under a minute to play to help his team come away with the win.

I was a fan of how Joey orchestrated the offense for a Wisconsin Playmakers team that went undefeated over the weekend in Appleton. Excelled at dribbling towards the wing and then threading the needle to a teammate cutting backdoor. Would lead his teammates perfectly with well-paced passes allowing for them to catch and finish with ease. Gets to his spots off the dribble while constantly keeping his eyes scanning the floor. Had some moments where he took over scoring the ball on his own as well as he has good body control to go right into taller defenders and finish through them.

I really liked how Joey ran the offense for Playmakers in their two games yesterday. He showed he can control the game as a floor general but also take over as a scorer when needed. So good at threading the needle through tight gaps to hit his guys cutting backdoor along the baseline, but could also get two feet in the paint and kick it out to his open shooters. Joey has excellent body control that allowed him to take off up the floor in transition, go right into contact, and still maintain his balance to finish over taller players at the rim. Tough defender who seemed to force multiple turnovers in both games I watched him play.
