is a prospect I’ve been keeping up with for a while. Any time I watch Jax play, he is always giving effort and shows the will to win on the court. As a 2028 guard, he possesses shooting skills from beyond the arc and the ability to finish at the basket. College interest should be flowing in his way soon after what he has accomplished in high school so far.

combo guard who can flat-out shoot it. His mechanics are clean, quick, and consistent, whether he’s spotting up or relocating off the ball. Jax scores out of hesitations and gets into a smooth pull-up when defenders overplay. On defense, stays active in passing lanes. Sharum is young, poised on the floor. Monitoring to see strength and creation tools keep growing.

New Wave Academy was trailing against Desoto when they managed to pull off a significant comeback. Jax played a pivotal role in this turnaround that effectively regained control of the game and making it competitive once again. Throughout the game he consistently contributed to the team’s offensive success by efficiently scoring points and demonstrating his competitiveness on both ends of the court. His offensive performance was particularly noteworthy, as he showcased his versatility by scoring from all three levels of the court, including multiple three-point shots off the catch and dribble. Additionally, he was able to penetrate the paint which resulted in easy points and numerous trips to the free throw line. Defensively, he made valuable contributions by securing rebounds and actively participating in rotations.

changes the tempo of the game when the ball is in his hands, often putting pressure on the defense to stop the ball before he gets to hoop or to his spots for the pull-up. Great shooting mechanics, rising into a single fluid motion over contest and through bad passes, allowing nothing to affect his catch-and-shoot prowess. Sharum also stands out as an exceptional floor spacer, always finding an opening off the ball showing a high IQ understanding of how to get open or manipulate space. In triple threat, Sharum shows good ball protection, swimming, ripping, or pivoting to create a slight inch of space for his quick jumper. On the other side of the court, Jax shows defensive upside particularly guarding on the ball and closing out where he’s quick to cover space or get a hand on the ball without costly fouls.

Jax New Wave Academy was one of the best perimeter shooters I watched during the GASO Prep Fall Tour. He capitalized on multiple opportunities when shooting from the perimeter. He’s consistently ready to shoot the basketball off the catch, setting his feet right with good mechanics on his jump shot. Don’t let him get comfortable from the perimeter, as he can knock down multiple shots in various offensive situations.

A quick-trigger shooter from the corner who thrives in rhythm within the flow of the offense. He stays shot-ready, maintaining active feet and hands as he spots up or lifts into open windows for three-point looks. His compact mechanics and confidence as a catch-and-shoot threat make him a valuable floor spacer who stretches defenses and punishes late closeouts.

Jax was a dominant shooter in New Wave’s four games they played on Sunday. He proved that he could beat opponents off catch and shoot attempts, but he is just as adept at creating his own looks from deep. Jax also knows how to toughen up on defense as he pressured several opposing ballhandlers into turnovers and was a good break starter for New Wave Academy as well. He made waves as one of the best shooters in Texas over the summer playing for JL3 EYBL and he looks to continue this momentum as school season is upon us.

Sharum’s game balances attacking and distributing, with sharp hesitations that set up both pull-ups and slot feeds. He finishes with control at the rim, often absorbing contact without losing balance. Off the ball, he relocates effectively, making himself a constant threat as a secondary option. Defensively, he shows anticipation in stunts and digs, helping disrupt ball handlers before they get downhill. Around 6′0″, his quickness translates well in open space.

Jax came into the game ready to make shots, a true opportunistic scorer who made his presence felt without needing to dominate the ball, always taking advantage of his opportunities and never wasting his moment to score as he released the ball rapidly. Sharum also showcased a quick reaction to 50/50 balls, with the instincts and reflexes to secure the ball from awkward angles and fast play.
