Caldwell is an excellent on-ball defender, consistently demonstrating strong focus, anticipation, and physicality when guarding opponents. He stays low and balanced, making it difficult for attackers to get around him, while his quick feet and sharp reactions allow him to contest shots and disrupt passing lanes effectively. Caldwell reads the offensive player’s movements well, often forcing turnovers or bad decisions without committing unnecessary fouls. His intensity and discipline make him a reliable presence on the court, capable of shutting down key players and providing his team with a defensive edge.
