Swindell impressed as Caldwell Academy got off to a hot start over Carlisle (VA) on Tuesday with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists to help pace the Eagles. He’s primarily been a scorer every time I’ve watched him play, with a college ready frame and a knack for getting to his spots. However, the 6 assists and 10 rebounds are a great sign of a developing game, with an improved rebounding acumen and passing ability key to his goal of picking up collegiate offers. Look for him to continue to make an impact for CA as they look to compete for a state title this year.

Swindell is a big-bodied guard that sometimes plays like a forward that did well for his NC Rise squad. He’s incredibly physical and hard to stop when he gets a head of steam. When his teammates are putting up shot his first thought is to head to the offensive glass to clean up any misses and help start the team’s pressure from the other end of the court. I thought his slashing skills were that of someone who could be a complimentary piece on an NAIA/JuCo squad, with more upside if he can show he shoots the ball really well.
