Coleman Jr. possessed that “it” factor, and it showed every time he stepped on the floor. He made scoring look effortless, finding ways to put the ball in the basket from all areas. His footwork, especially the jump step, created space and kept defenders off balance. What really stood out is his ability to rise up quickly, getting his shot off before contests can affect him. He played with confidence and rhythm, and when he gets going, he’s tough to slow down. Coleman Jr.’s scoring instincts and natural feel made him one of the most exciting players to watch all weekend

Coleman didn’t just have an impressive month for a freshman; he had arguably the best month in the entire state. Vanguard had 8 games in January, and he scorched whoever dared to guard him for 8 games. He finished with 25 points or more in 7 of those games, and he also had a career high of 47 points in a 5-point win, which is unheard of. He’s shooting the 3-ball, averaged over 6 assists a game in that stretch, and is boarding heavily too. He had himself a month and is a prospect that needs to be talked about more.

Coleman seems to tower over the other players despite being only 6’2 but has excellent size for a freshman and a strong frame. He uses that size to get to where he wants on the floor and there were times in 5-on-5 where he took over. He overpowered defenders and finished well around the basket and got downhill. He attacked the mismatch and was either fouled or scored. He also got plenty of rebounds and kept plays alive. Defensively he was very active and came away with a few steals and he’s a player that I feel has the most varsity impact in the class and watching this event, that will not be a problem for him. Huge year upcoming for him.

Coleman is another prospect that we missed on the last go-round and is a player that we made sure to go back and add. He’s a player who turned heads this summer as a standout on the 3SSB circuit. He impressed with his athleticism and ability to slash to the rim. He finishes with either hand, absorbs contact, and can knock down shots off the catch. His strength and bounce allow him to rebound in a group. Coleman’s varsity-ready skill set as a freshman makes him a clear name to know, and we expect him to make some varsity noise this season.

Coleman Jr. put together a standout summer on the Adidas circuit, turning heads with his shooting and confidence. He’s deadly from three, especially from his favorite spot in the corner and has a smooth step-back jumper that’s hard to defend. Beyond his shooting touch, he runs the floor well in transition, finishing strong at the rim and showing great instincts on when to push the pace. As he continues to develop expanding his mid range game will make him even more dangerous as a scorer who can hurt defenses at all three levels. Continuing to attack the basket with force and finishing through contact will add another layer to his already impressive offensive arsenal. With his work ethic and feel for the game, Coleman Jr. is the kind of player who can heat up quickly and completely shift momentum in his team’s favor
