proved that he deserves to be in the top 40 with his play this season. He is relentless with his defense and rebounding. He is also the kind of player who will dive in the stands if needed or on the ground for a loose ball. When it comes to his offense, he has a variety of moves he can use to beat his guy and can drain shots from the outside.

plays incredibly hard and gives 110% every single possession. His top highlight of the day against Washington Prep was on defense. He almost had 2 huge blocks that were back to back, unfortunately the referee called a foul on his second one. Despite the foul call, I was impressed by his hustle and athleticism.

Cottingham played incredibly well in Basic’s matchup with St. Paul. On offense, he was hitting mid-range shots and 3’s. On defense, he was deflecting passes, coming up with steals, and battling against the St. Paul bigs for rebounds. I was also a big fan of his effort, the senior really left it all out there.
Stats – 19 Points (8-17), 8 Rebounds

Ja’Mari Cottington takes a huge jump and is now sitting in the 64 spot. He has some incredible athleticism and always leaves it all out there on the court. I’m also a fan of the way he fights for rebounds, even though he is usually going up against guys 3 or 4 inches taller than him. I think he’ll have a great season if can get to his spots on offense and makes plays on defense.

This will be Ja’mari’s second year starting for Basic Academy. I expect him to be a leading scorer this year for the Wolves and he may be up their in rebounding as well. His toughest duty will be defending some of the opposing teams better guards. However if he utilizes his impressive athleticism, he should be able to win some of his more difficult match-ups.

Ja’Mari Cottingham will be one of the playmakers for Basic this year. It was my first time seeing him on Tuesday and I liked what I saw. He drained three 3-Pointers and also showcased his ability to rebound. His best attributes might be the energy and effort that he plays with. Cottingham finished Tuesday’s game with 15 points.

Cottington is a high flyer with jaw dropping athleticism. Much like Brosier, his ability to catch a body or two is going to make him a name to remember this upcoming season.

Cottington is an underated highlight reel with top 50 level athleticism. His ability to impact games with his R&J ability combined with the propensity to make an above the rim impact play make him one of the more exciting players outside the top 100.

His athletic ability alone is intriguing. Cottington is a lean athletic forward, that’s good for a few highlight reel plays per game. He’s listed at 150, but if the two sport star focuses more on Basketball, expect him to rise.
