Expert Analysis

One of the more talented offensive forwards in Ohio’s 2027 class, Keyes Jr can create plays off the dribble and move in a way that few players his height and weight can match. Creative off the dribble, Keyes Jr loves the flashy crossover and pass in showcase events like this. Hoping to see that talent turn into production and winning this summer for Keyes Jr, who could be a big boost to whatever grassroots program he plays for.

Keyes is a walking mismatch with his size at the guard position. He has a nice jumper and a good skillset that match his ability to dominant smaller guards. He can get to the lane and rim whenever he wants. He continues to look more athletic, even physically, which allows him not to always need to bully his way to the rim. He beats you off the dribble and gets buckets. His size and length make it tough to contest his jumper.

Keyes was the highest ranked prospect in our 2027 rankings in attendance and he lived up to that reputation. One of the most skilled forwards in Ohio, Keyes can do a lot with the ball in his hands at his size. Despite being a bigger bodied kid, Keyes has nimble feet and used the euro step to score around his defender multiple times in transition. Also a good shooter from the outside, Keyes knocked down a handful of 3-pointers off the dribble as well. One of the top players in Ohio’s 2027 class, Keyes will make a big impact at St Thomas Aquinas in Louisville this season.

One of the most skilled forwards in Ohio’s 2027 class, Keyes can do a variety of things on the offensive end. With excellent touch on jumpers, Keyes can space the floor and loves the turnaround jumper. Productive in the paint due to his ability to stretch out the defense then attack off the bounce, Keyes is a mismatch in the paint. Biggest thing for Keyes will be getting in better shape to play heavy minutes in high paced games. Obviously these prospects are very young and have plenty of time to develop but it’s good to get early eyes on these players before college coaches really focus on recruiting this class. Division I coaches will be getting eyes on Keyes sooner rather than later.

The top ranked big in Ohio, Keyes played a solid bench role for Garfield Heights as a freshman. Learning behind Kent State commit DeAndre Jones, Keyes showed some intriguing flashes in the minutes he was able to play as a freshman. Keyes has a bigger build but is pretty nimble on his feet and has more explosiveness than you’d expect from a forward with his body. Also capable of stretching out the defense and knocking down shots from 3-point range, Keyes will play a big role for All Ohio Red ‘s 15 U group this spring and summer.

I really like what Keyes brings to the Garfield squad. He is a freshman who does a lot of the little things good that will not be in the stat sheet. He brings a high level of energy that is infectious to his teammates. He is a big bodyguard that makes other bigs guard him. This allows some space to open up for other guards on his team. To even help him create spacing, he can shoot the heck out of the ball. He is not afraid to shoot the ball in big moments. He is only to get better and I can’t wait to see how he develops.
