About Ja’Cobi

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as mentally calculated. I know how to read the court and players very well, and I also have a “defensive” mindset as well. Meaning I’m always mentally prepared to get back into defensive mode, as well as rebounding and assisting. I’ve never been a real “selfish” player. I do what it takes to win and get better.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m very calm, cool, and collected. I love meeting new people and I love perfecting my craft. I’m focused on achieving goals that I’ve set for myself, so I do what it takes in order to be a success. I read a court and field different from most athletes, I can see several plays while in motion, it’s hard to explain. In my free time I like to have fun with friends and family.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved with my church’s youth group

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have volunteered in helping rebuild the City of Earlington when a tornado hit it, I also do volunteer work with my youth group. I know that being a leader takes hard work, the ability to continually learn from others as well as from mistakes that might be made. Teamwork is never being selfish doing what it takes to be a success.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I love my Pop Pop before he could ever really watch my play any kind of sport and we were close, so a lot of things that I do, it’s for him.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for colleges that have that “family” mindset, one that will motivate their students. One that believes in their students and student-athletes.

Nichols is a kid that I have had my eye on for a couple of seasons now but he didn’t play much as a Freshman at Madisonville last season. Heading into his Sophomore campaign at St. Mary, Ja’Cobi could be a breakout player if my hunch is correct. Nichols checks a ton of boxes as a prospect but he needs to turn his potential intro production as a Sophomore. I am betting that he will do just that.
