Sykes is another guy that we are going to move up the rankings when they are resorted here next month. Sykes has grown from whenever that 5’8 height was put in and he’s definitely one of the talents that seemed to be full control of the possession on a regular basis. There are only so many guards that look in full control of what is about to happen consistently and Sykes looked to be one of those guys.

A steady guard that now looks bigger than that 5’8 profile listing, Sykes is closer to six feet and the way he handled and play made in a steady way really stood out. The attack timing stood out because it was precise in terms of when the primary and defender were in a spot of vulnerability, and the plays made were consistent and high percentage.

Jacob Sykes Jacob Sykes 5'11" | PG Duluth East | 2030 State MN is a five-foot-eight-inch guard that played JV/Varsity as an 8th grader at Duluth East and played with Wisconsin Playmakers. Sykes has ability as a lead ball handler, shows good strength and maturity at this age, and looks to be a strong perimeter shooter.

Ball fakes, footwork, the ability to go either direction as a scorer, these are just a few things in Sykes’ bag that make him such a talented scorer. It’s hard not to be impressed with his tempo as he’s hard to speed up and does a good job of remaining calm under heavy defensive pressure. The poise he plays with is a trait that will help him find success at any level. Sykes is also an aggressive defender who will give headaches to opposing ball-handlers the whole game, maintaining his intensity in all corners of the game.
