Expert Analysis

Delon Bowen

Prep Hoops Scout

Scrappy defender who competed on that end and made things difficult for opposing guards. Really stood out as a passer, threading passes through tight windows and showing great court vision. Did a good job seeing the floor and finding teammates when passing lanes opened up. Handled the ball well and played with good pace, staying under control with the ball in his hands and keeping his head up as plays developed. His handle, vision and passing allowed him to create and move the ball effectively throughout the event.

One of the shiftier guards at the Freshman Showcase, he has a multitude of ways to beat you off the bounce, with hesitations and sudden changes of speed. He has just as many ways to create his own shot from the midrange and the three-point line: pulling up off the dribble, pulling up in transition, or a crossover into a step-back jumper. Not only a scorer either, he finds open teammates while running the halfcourt offense and pushing in transition.

Jacob came out ready to play from the get go scoring 7 straight points. He has a shifty and quick handle that allows him to get wherever he wants. He will attack defenders then rise up for a beautiful looking mid range jumper. Jacob would seek out mismatches and use a hesi pullup on slower foot defenders to create space for a three. he used this move three times converting on every possession. He seems to hit another gear in transition or when going down hill. He is a great athlete and will use acrobatic finishes to finish over bigger defenders. Jacob often draws help defenders and throws no look drop off passes to bigs in the dumpers spot.
