Arizona Freshman Expo: Intriguing Guards

The Arizona Freshman Expo was my first look at some off the top players in the 2030 class heading into the new season. The overall talent from this class is very intriguing and looks to shape up very well in the next couple years. We have amazing prospects from every position and I will highlight the players I viewed and spilt them up into three categories Guards, Wings and forwards/Centers.   Guards    Tyler is a intriguing guard with the size and skill to be a special player in the 2030 class. He plays at his own pace with a calmness to his game. He doesn't let defenders speed him up and can be effective in multiple ways. He is a above average passer for his age and will find teammates in spots that they will be successful. He got most of his points from the midrange where he seemed automatic. He will break down defenders and get them on there hills to rise up for a smooth jumper. Tyler will also attack defenders hips to score at the rim with his size and athleticism. Tyler should have a solid role with a loaded Millennium squad.     Myles stood out right away with his elite scoring ability and may be one of the most skilled scorers in the 2030 class. His footwork and handle was truly impressive and allowed him to create major separation for his jumper. His shot mechanics are textbook and smooth. he is money from the midrange to the three and can even extend it to NBA range. He is a strong finisher at the rim that doesn't shy away from contact and will even dunk it when given the chance. Myles is one to keep an eye out for during the season and years to come.     Jacob came out ready to play from the get go scoring 7 straight points. He has a shifty and quick handle that allows him to get wherever he wants. He will attack defenders then rise up for a beautiful looking mid range jumper. Jacob would seek out mismatches and use a hesi pullup on slower foot defenders to create space for a three. he used this move three times converting on every possession. He seems to hit another gear in transition or when going down hill. He is a great athlete and will use acrobatic finishes to finish over bigger defenders. Jacob often draws help defenders and throws no look drop off passes to bigs in the dumpers spot.     Amar'e is a bigger guard with a overall smooth game. He has a nice handle and plays at a solid pace with a high IQ. He is a knock down shooter from the three off the catch and the dribble. Amar'e has the ability to play on and off ball and looks like a true combo guard. He works well in the pick and roll and will punish defenders when they go under the screen. He plays with great confidence and always looks to make the right play. Amar'e is a prospect to keep an eye on in the upcoming years.     Valentino is a natural scorer at the combo guard position. He is very crafty and can get his points from all three levels. He has a nice looking jumper and can get hot from the outside. He is a sneaky athlete that can slice through the lane and finish with finesse over bigger defenders or stop and pop for a midrange jumper. Valentino isn't scared to get physical on in the inside despite his size and has a great motor on both ends of the floor. He will turn heads this year as a starter on varsity from day one.     Adrian is a hard nose on ball defender that plays the game the right way. He has an amazing basketball IQ and can affect the game in multiple ways. He is a pass first player that looks to make the right play. Adrian likes to play physical and will battle with bigger players in the paint or out physical smaller guards. He plays with great pace and patients on the offensive end. He adds to a already very loaded 2030 Basha class.     Von is a sneaky good player that will wow you the longer you watch him play. He might be the best shooter in the class and can get his shot off very quick with limited space. He has NBA range and isn't afraid to pull up from deep. Von is a very high IQ player that has amazing vision. He will add some flash to his passes with a no look to the dump man or thread the needle in tight spaces to cutters. He takes what is given to him and plays a very balanced game.     Jerison is a fast pace guard that thrives in the open court and can score in bunches. He likes to apply full court pressure and will knock the ball away from ball handlers leading to easy buckets. He likes to get to the middle and use hop steps and step throughs to score over and around bigger players. He was able to finish through contact and convert on multiple and-1s through out the EXPO.
