2026 AZ Freshman Showcase: Eye-Catchers Pt. 3

I attended the 2026 PrepHoops Arizona Freshman Showcase at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, AZ on September 5. This was my first time watching most of these players, and I came away extremely intrigued by the class of 2030, as this class is loaded with talent. Here's part three of four highlighting the players who caught my eye. Arguably the best passer at the Freshman Showcase, he made multiple highlight-reel plays on passing alone. He has natural PG instincts and plays with a pass-first mindset. Crosscourt, in transition, off a drive, he has a plethora of ways to feed teammates: no-look into the paint or out to the corner, behind the back, and the plain chest pass. He can rifle it between tight spaces and still give his man the best possible look. He's a ball-hawk on the other end of the court too, with real anticipation for where the ball is going and when to attack, grabbing steals and turning them into fastbreak assists. One of the shiftier guards at the Freshman Showcase, he has a multitude of ways to beat you off the bounce, with hesitations and sudden changes of speed. He has just as many ways to create his own shot from the midrange and the three-point line: pulling up off the dribble, pulling up in transition, or a crossover into a step-back jumper. Not only a scorer either, he finds open teammates while running the halfcourt offense and pushing in transition. Plays like a slasher and is most effective driving to the rack, using his incredible athleticism and explosive first step to body his way in. He has a real arsenal of moves: blowing by with straight speed, working in spin moves and hesitations, and finishing off with a euro step. And he can free himself up for a clear lane more often than not. Comfortable handle while playing at the 3, with a handful of instances of pulling boards on defense and then going coast to coast to finish. One of the top board-getters at the Freshman Showcase, he showed off his prowess as a consistent rebounder and excellent interior finisher, with plenty of offensive boards and put-back attempts. Capable of driving to the rim and finishing layups, taking more of a straight-line drive from either wing. He doesn't overcomplicate his move set, and still scores efficiently on those attempts. A pesky defender, consistently going for pick-pockets when defending the ball, often before it even crosses halfcourt, pressing his man the whole way up. His quick hands led to a string of steals and fastbreak chances for his team. At his stature, the vision is impeccable: threading the needle on overhead passes for a corner three, dropping bounce passes in transition where no defender can reach them, always keeping his eyes up at halfcourt scanning for a cutter. Shifty guard who showed he can score from multiple areas of the floor. Plays with a ton of hustle too, fighting for loose balls and never shy about going up for a board with bodies all around him. A capable scoring guard who has a bit of point guard feel to him as well. Scores on drive-in layups, turnaround midrange shots, and step-back or catch-and-shoot threes. A vocal presence on the court, consistently calling for the ball when he has an open look. Proved he can read the floor, making repeated passes into the paint to a cutter.
