Expert Analysis
Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
Already committed to play at the NAIA level, Copley is one of the top talents in southeast Ohio. An athletic guard, Copley made an impact defensively with a couple blocks and deflections. With his size, strength and athleticism, Copley scored with his back to the basket a few times just overpowering defenders in the paint. One of the few creators on his team, Copley was forced to some difficult jumpers but did make a couple impressive 3-pointers. Establishing himself in southeast Ohio as a top regional talent, expect Copley to put up big scoring numbers as a senior before making his mark at the next level as well.

Copley is one of the top players in southeast Ohio and having a great winter for Lucasville Valley in arguably the toughest conference in the region. Copley has taken big time steps as an off-movement shooter, running off screens and hitting shots from well beyond the 3-point line. After dominating small school competition this winter, it’ll be interesting to see how Copley adjusts on the Adidas Gold Circuit with Midwest Basketball Club this spring and summer, a great opportunity for Copley to be seen by more scholarship programs.

Copley has been the breakout star from the Fall League so far, putting in impressive performances almost every week. Copley is one of the top players in southeast Ohio but has shown the ability to get it done against big time competition in this league and is set to make a jump up the rankings during our next update. Copley’s ability to create his own shot efficiently and play off the ball and score is his best skill. At his size there aren’t many players with his off the dribble shooting game.

Copley is one of the top prospects in southeast Ohio’s 2024 class and continues to improve each time I watch him play. Lucasville Valley plays a fast style which allows Copley to get tons of reps as he was a leading scorer for their team as a Sophomore. Copley is dangerous as a shooter either off the bounce or the catch and is improving his ability to create for himself. If Copley can continue to grow as a self-creator and become even more deadly on catch and shoot opportunities, he’s a potential scholarship target for Division II and NAIA programs.

, this squad has talent and chemistry. Copley used his size well when he drove to the paint and got hot from the outside with 3-point makes off the catch and off the bounce. Look for Copley to be one of the top players in southeast Ohio as a Junior and stand out in a competitive SOC conference.
