The engine to the North Canton Hoover offense, Hershberger can get to the rim in a hurry in both the half-court and transition opportunities. Hershberger had an early euro-step finish and also went coast to coast off the dribble that ended with an and-1 scoop finish. Hershberger has impressive burst on the ball but also can take slowed down extended steps to throw the defense off. Currently sitting at 4-0 in the Federal League, Hershberger has the Vikings in the mix for a conference title right now.

North Canton Hoover is running mid-season level offense in June as their ball movement and spacing is next level. The engine to their offense is Hershberger as he dynamic with the ball in his hands and balances him creating offense for himself and also moving the ball and letting the natural flow generate open looks. Where Hershberger can really take control is in the open court where he relentless slashing ability and strong finishing can create easy baskets. While I like seeing Hershberger in attack mode off the dribble, he also scored off cuts and curling off screens as well, showing his ability to score on or off the ball. One of the top players in the Federal League, North Canton Hoover will be a team to watch this winter.

Hershberger has good positional size at the lead guard spot. He does a good job of hunting for his own shot. If Hershberger’s feet are set there is a high chance he is converting from deep. He continuously connected on scoring chances from a plethora of different spots. Hershberger converted on several chances from behind the arc. He was able to collect steals and rebounds on the defensive end.

I was a big fan of what I saw from Hershberger with North Canton Hoover this winter as he’s one of the more creative dribble drive guys in northeast Ohio. Able to finish acrobatically at the rim and get to the foul line, Hershberger makes the defense pay if he gets downhill off the dribble. Also capable of knocking down 3-pointers spotting up or running off pindown actions, Hershberger is a tough cover for opposing defenses. Already holding an offer from local Division II program Malone, who won the GMAC conference tournament this month. I’ll be following Hershberger this summer with TNBA -Ohio as he’ll be playing with the 15 U HGSL champs that have a ton of college talent.

The Vikings were scrappy and clawed back to threaten to pull off a stunner in the final minute of the game. Hershberger was my standout performer for North Canton Hoover as his slashing ability was making plays all game. With enough juice on the ball to create from a standstill, Hershberger has the talent to create something out of nothing. Throw in some acrobatic finishes and it’s tough to stop Hershberger when he’s attacking downhill. In the fourth quarter Hershberger started finding the range from the outside, knocking down a 3-pointer on the wing and off a pin down in the fourth quarter.
