The one Division III commit so far in Ohio, Newell is headed to nearby Mount Union after this season. Newell is one of the top shooters in the federal league and North Canton Hoover are always one of the top teams I see in Ohio during the month of June. Newell should fight for minutes early in his college career due to his combination of shooting and toughness plus experience playing within a complex offensive system. Look for North Canton Hoover to contend for conference and regional titles this season with Newell as a key piece of the team.

North Canton Hoover is rolling past opponents in June and once again looked like they were in midseason form in a blowout win over Pickerington North. Newell is one of the elite shooters in northeast Ohio and got going off spot-up looks and DHO actions. I also appreciated that Newell wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and crash the offensive glass and try to protect the rim. I’d expect the Vikings to again compete for conference and regional titles in 2027.
