Expert Analysis
Victor Taylor | Prep Hoops Scout
Vines put together a big game in an upset win over Mooresville on Friday, scoring 24 points and notching 4 assists as well. He’s been their senior leader as well as their most dynamic player all season long, and he was torching the Blue Devil’s defense in the lane and around the rim. He can also play on the wing with great length and defensive intensity, which makes him a legitimate two way player. He’s already got an NAIA offer and will look to pick up more as the season comes to a close.

Vines was a top Gamechanger given his prowess off the wing at the guard spot. He’s an athletic prospect at 6-foot-3 who wasn’t afraid to attack the basket and finish with authority as he did on numerous occasions in making his mark at this year’s Top 250 Expo. He did a tremendous job of showing he could do a little bit of everything with his dynamic skillset in his squad’s backcourt. He’ll be a name to track in the 2024 class at West Cabarrus High this season. He’s set to make a very notable debut in the 2024 rankings update at the end of the month.

Vines was definitely an eye catcher throughout the tournament, throwing down some OMG dunks and showcasing a lot of vertical pop. He’s got springs in his legs as he not just attacked the rim but used it to dominate the glass and rim protection. Was able to step out and knock down some jumpers when defenses took the drive away. Defensively battled hard all day, matching up on a variety of prospects of different sizes/strength levels. West Cabarrus will be better with him this year.
