He read closeouts well, if defenders closed out short, he let it fly. If they ran him off the line, he used subtle shot fakes and sharp footwork to blow by and attack off the bounce. He also showcased strong instincts to swing the ball or hit cutters in stride, playing unselfishly within the offense. His feel for spacing, anticipation, and quick decision-making made him a reliable off-ball weapon.

He contributed greatly by hitting big perimeter shots that continuously cut the lead in the game. Throughout the game it was evident that he was best suited in catch and shoot situations. On the defensive end Gavin communicated quite often as he was very vocal amongst his teammates, calling out different positions the opposing offense was in.
