Eric Wallace | Prep Hoops Scout
A Denison commit, Apergis brings size and polish to the frontcourt as a skilled interior presence. He is a fundamentally sound big who understands how to establish position and score on the block, showing the ability to finish over either shoulder with touch and footwork. While more of an average athlete, he compensates with feel, timing, and an understanding of angles.
Apergis is also a capable open shot maker who can step out and knock down midrange or perimeter looks when defenses sag. He plays with a good feel for the game, making smart decisions, moving the ball willingly, and understanding spacing within the offense. His combination of size, skill, and basketball IQ should allow him to transition smoothly to the college level.

-I’ve seen Apergis a few times and came away the most impressed with him in this event because of how he is getting from point A to B. He’s not doing anything fancy with the dribble, just getting from the wings to the rim efficiently and without losing the ball or traveling. Hop steps, euro’s, pivots in the paint, spin moves– love seeing the skill development without over-dribbling. Apergis showed that he can also space the floor by knocking down open looks from beyond the arc, made several tough catches in traffic to finish through double teams, and used his matchup’s momentum against them quite well to change directions and get to the hoop. Should be a key piece for an Episcopal team that should have a chance to win the league this season.

Apergis came all the way from Virginia and really impressed with his ability to run the floor, rebound, and finish at the hoop. The rising senior is 6-foot-8 and very lanky, which allowed him to dominate on the boards against a bunch of undersized big men and wings; he helps himself out a lot here by keeping the ball high on offensive rebounds and going right back up with it quickly. He also had a variety of floaters in the lane with both hands, showcasing some really solid touch. He didn’t step out to take many threes, but he has a decent looking release that could possibly be improved upon to develop his shooting. He’ll find a D3 fit somewhere.

Apergis intrigues long-term with his blend of size and skill. He did a good job of seeing the floor and can find teammates in tough spots on the floor. He used his close proximity to basket allowed him to collect rebounds. He has good timing when to go up and alter shots. I wish Apergis could move his feet faster north to south and have quicker hips. He also found different ways to put the ball in the cup. He should continue to get better with time and has some untapped potential.
