Chaney is coming off of a really special freshman season at Charlotte Latin where he put up monster numbers on a team that enjoyed a lot of success. He’s also been able to follow that up with some real production for Team United 15u EYBL during the travel ball season. Chaney’s ability to make outside shots along with having a supreme feel for the game allows him to operate within a team’s offense at a high level. As he continues to add strength and athleticism as his body develops, he’ll only become more efficient as his experience continues to build. Chaney is without a doubt one of the premier point guards in this class with a lot of skills that translate to the next level.

Chaney is another key piece on this Team United EYBL 15u team and was able to really help this group stabilize their offense with his playmaking en route to a 3-1 weekend in Memphis. For the session, Chaney averaged 11.0 Points, 2.8 Rebounds, 3.0 Assists, and 1.5 Steals per game on 38/38/71 shooting splits. Chaney is a smooth and cerebral PG that can make outside shots with efficiency. As he adds strength to his frame, he’ll only become a better finisher in traffic at the rim and it’ll open his overall game up even further. For now, his ability to help run an offense, pitch in on the scoresheet, and provide ball pressure defensively make him a key player with this group and a premier PG in this stacked 2029 class here in North Carolina.

Chaney proved himself as one of North Carolina’s top 2029 guards with the work he put in at Charlotte Latin this past season with his ability to make shots being a huge part of that. He’ll be running with Team United EYBL 15u this spring/summer as he looks to build off of the success he enjoyed during his Freshman season. This past year he averaged 19.2 Points, 3.6 Rebounds, 3.0 Assists, and 1.2 Steals on 47/41/76 shooting splits. The volume from beyond the arc was high as well as he made 71 triples in 29 games this season. Chaney did that playing against competition that was almost all older than him, now that he’s going to be playing his age group on a national stage, I fully expect Chaney’s production and efficiency to properly translate, allowing his stock to rise as he continues to set an incredible recruiting foundation. This Team United 15u group enjoyed a lot of success in middle school and looks to be bringing a large chunk of that core back to the EYBL 15u circuit, it will be fun to track Chaney as he is a really special guard prospect to monitor closely.

Chaney is continuing to establish himself as one of the state’s best freshman and best guard prospects regardless of class. With his Charlotte Latin team making a final four berth in the NCISAA 4A classification, Chaney is poised to bring an upset minded group into Forsyth Country Day later tonight and empty the tank. The Frosh is averaging 19.3 Points, 3.7 Rebounds, 3.1 Assists, and 1.3 Steals on 46/41/76 splits. There’s no way around it, that is just remarkably impressive for a kid of this age to do. Chaney’s ability to both run the team, activate his own offense when needed, and bring enough to the table defensively to make a positive impact at that end of the floor. The combination of poise, skill, and competitive fire make Chaney a point guard prospect worth monitoring very closely. If he can find a way to shock the HoopState and win two games this week, it will be something truly special.
