Bernard is one of the 2030 prospects we’re particularly excited about, and we believe he has the offensive tools to compete for varsity minutes as a freshman at Air Academy. He made a strong impression when we watched him this summer, immediately standing out with his confidence and natural ability to score. He’s an assertive offensive player who doesn’t shy away from attacking defenders, creating mismatches or using his size to his advantage. His ability to knock down perimeter shots stretches the defense, but he’s equally comfortable attacking inside and finishing around the basket. What also impressed us was his feel without the basketball. He moves with purpose, understands when to relocate and keeps the offense flowing rather than standing around waiting for touches. Those are encouraging traits for a young scorer making the transition to high school and we’re aware he has a long way to go to go and we have to see it again. Even if Bernard doesn’t step into a major role immediately, we believe his scoring instincts and overall offensive upside make him a player worth believing in. We’re eager to see how consistently he can produce against faster, stronger and more physical competition. He’s a name to watch out of this conference now and moving forward.

Bernard is a prospect who I am extremely high on based on what I saw from him at the showcase. He jumped onto my radar with his offensive firepower. He lit it up as a balanced scorer, who was assertive, he attacked whoever was in front of him, forced mismatches and used his size at times as well. Bernard can open up the floor with his ability to shoot the 3-ball, but also he knows how to finish inside as well. I liked his feel and how he kept the ball moving when he didn’t have it, he showed that he could move without the ball and when he gets it he goes. He’s a natural scorer who continued to make plays and I want to see if that was just a good day or if this is what we can expect from him. He’s a player I am curious about but I would certainly put him in the Top-20 with what I saw from him for room to grow. High expectations for him this year.

Bernard came out and had himself a day! He was one of the better scorers at the event, especially in the 5-on-5 portion of the day, as he was scoring in iso and couldn’t be slowed down. He has a good feel for the game, knows where to be on the floor, pushes the ball in transition, and also showed up on the boards as well. He showed his scoring versatility without being shot-hungry. There was a natural feel to how he operated. Bernard made the extra pass when it was available, filled open space, and routinely put himself in position to make the next play. The combination of it all made him one of the more interesting new names I came away wanting to track as I know he’ll be a name that sticks.
