This was my first look at Carolina Premier this season and my first time watching Howard in person, and neither disappointed. Eli is one of the best shooters in South Carolina’s 2029 class, and he is one of only two rising sophomores with a D1 offer (Campbell). His ability to catch and shoot on the wing provides a lot of space for other guards to work, but he can be the primary ball-handler and run the offense for stretches, too.

The only 2029 Guard with a claimed offer at this early stage is Eli Howard Eli Howard 6'0" | PG/SG J.L. Mann | 2029 State SC . The offer is from D2 Anderson University, a school that had an excellent season and is on a strong run of developing guards and shooters. Howard is part of a strong young core at JL Mann, but if his freshman season is any sign of things to come, he could be one of the best scorers in his class over the next three seasons.

The Patriots have a couple of intriguing young prospects who have been loudly impacting games already this season. Eli is one of them, and although shooting is what earned him a spot on the roster, he also mixes in lots of other things to help the team. Howard has really good touch on short-range, makes the right pass on the perimeter, helps clean up the glass, and has a high level of confidence for a freshman. He finished with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists off the bench in the overtime win on an efficient 9-12 shooting with 4 made threes.
