proved that he’s one of the better shooters out there these last few seasons at Sierra Vista. He has a great feel for the game, and can anticipate defensive pressure. Which allows him to get his shot off, even if he’s being guarded well. In 2024-2025 he scored 478 points and made 80 3-pointers. Dacuma can also drain mid-range shots, and he’s and 89% free throw shooter.

The two time state champion had a phenomenal season. He averaged 17.1 PPG and just over 2.5 3-pointers per game. His slick ball-handling skills and bursts of speed allowed him to get shots off taller defenders. Dacuma did damage from the free throw line as well, shooting 89% this year. I was also a fan of how he competed and got after it on the defensive end.

was in attack mode from the very beginning of the game. He was able to draw a few fouls while he was shooting, and hit 5 free throws in the first quarter. Unfortunately on one of his shots, he turned his ankle as he came down. Which forced him to exit the game to get with trainers. Then , he made his way back on to the court and continued to play. Despite being at less than 100% he still found a way to get open and connected on three triples and a couple of free throws. It was an impressive championship effort.

didn’t put up quite as many points as he did against Legacy, but he still did a good job of controlling the game and not forcing anything. In the first half he was able to get to the free throw line and knocked down 5 of his 7 attempts. Then in the second half he buried a 3 and played some pretty good defense.

lit it up from the perimeter on Thursday night. He was getting to his spots efficiently and displayed good mechanics. Which led to him hitting five 3-pointers on the night, and he hit a number of pull up jumpers as well. I also noticed Dacuma hustling on defense and he was able to collect a couple of steals.
If he can shoot like that again tonight, Sierra Vista may take home the championship trophy.

played fearless in Sierra Vista’s game against Coronado. He competed on each in every possession and made some huge shots for the Mountain Lions to help them get the win. Despite facing heavy defensive pressure, he drained six 3-pointers and a few of tough jumpers as well. On the defensive end, he didn’t give the Coronado guards much breathing room. I also noticed him doing a good job over fighting over screens.

was cooking on Monday night. In the first half he used his IQ and slick handles to set up his shots, and made some nice jumpers. In the second half, he lit it from 3 and helped give Sierra Vista a big lead. The senior finished with 30 points in all, and made four 3-pointers.
I’d also like to note that he is averaging 16.4 PPG and shooting 39% from 3 this season.

had a quality shooting performance in Sierra Vista’s game against Montgomery. He was 3 of 6 from beyond the 3-point line, and also had some nice drives to the rim. I also noticed that he never stopped competing.

EJ DaCuma shot well in The Border League games against Bishop O’Connell and Redemption Christian Academy. He is consistent from behind the 3-point line and keeps the floor spaced for his “Blue Hoops” squad. If needed, DaCuma can also drive to the rim thanks to his shiftiness.

Dacuma was on fire beyond the arc against Arbor View. The senior guard hit four 3’s and he also scored on a few drives to the rim. I also liked how he cleverly found his teammates for good open shots throughout the game.
