Dillon Murphy Dillon Murphy 6'6" | SF TPLS | 2028 State VA is another player whose stock continues to trend upward. The 6-foot-6 wing has all the physical tools coaches covet at the next level and has consistently shown why he belongs among the state’s top rising prospects.
Murphy spent the summer playing up with Team Richmond’s 17U group and held his own against older competition. His length, athleticism, and scoring ability make him a difficult matchup on the wing. He can stretch the floor with his shooting, finish through contact at the rim, and has the athleticism to play above the rim in transition.
Defensively, Murphy uses his long frame to contest shots and generate deflections, creating opportunities for his team to get out and run. Currently ranked No. 83 overall and No. 21 among Virginia small forwards, he feels like a player whose ranking may not fully reflect his upside.
As he continues to develop physically and gains more exposure, expect Murphy to be one of the more intriguing wings to watch in Virginia’s 2028 class.

Murphy is a long, athletic wing who checks a lot of boxes. At 6’5”, he already has ideal size for the position and can really shoot it. He’s a smooth scorer who does a great job getting to his spots and rising up with confidence.
What makes him intriguing is his upside. As he continues to add strength and get more comfortable attacking off the bounce, his ceiling rises significantly. He has a natural feel for the game and doesn’t force shots — he lets it come to him.
With the right summer, Murphy could easily be one of the bigger breakout names in the 804.
