About Devin
Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
An ultra-quick and bursty guard, Freeman has the shake and wiggle to get inside and make plays at the rim. His agility and strength also make him a key defender at Lake Stevens, not to mention a motor that just keeps going. He’s a guard who has started the year off with some big games on both ends of the court, and his effort really shows up in close games.

Was really impressed with his fight and resiliency down in Yakima. It didn’t result in the win against West Valley, but Freeman was consistently getting into the paint against the Rams. He’s another twitchy athlete and showed he can separate, as well as create space for tough buckets in traffic. Came up with some big plays at the end of their Davis victory on Monday too, getting a steal after a layup and setting up his teammate for three to help extend the game into overtime.

Freeman plays with a lot of wiggle with the ball, but he also just brings great energy to the court on both ends of the floor. In their game against Lynden Christian, Freeman showed a lot of fight and ability to hit back. He was solid through the first quarter of the game but really turned it on in the second quarter with a big chase-down block off the backboard, and then five big points in quick succession to help cut the deficit in half, sinking a nasty step-back three and then cashing in a couple of shots at the foul line. He will be a major factor for Lake Stevens this season.

I watched Devin live last weekend during a tournament and he instantly stood out. He is insanely athletic and has natural talent on the court. He finds his mid-range spots with ease, exploding off his dribble move to create space for himself. His deep shot was locked in as well, he proved why he is a top 10 player in the 2027 class. Next year will be huge for Freeman.

A highly creative slashing guard with quick feet and outstanding burst to the rim, Freeman showed throughout his freshman year to be one of the best at attacking the rim in his class. He has great straight-line speed and body control and is a worker defensively who can rack up the stocks with his quickness and anticipation.

Here is a player who will be a big time prospect in the state of Washington very soon. He is a smooth bucket getter who knows how to attack the defense weaknesses. He plays at a great pace and controls the ball well when he has it, leading too few turnovers. He is a hard nosed defender too who will guard the opposing teams best player nightly.

Freeman has had a great start to his varsity career, dropping 20 and 15 points in Lake Stevens’ first two games. He’s really quick to the rim and a poised finisher around contests. Biggest thing I saw from him early on was his ability to bounce back. He missed a wide-open layup off of a nice backdoor cut in their first game and instead of hanging his head he immediately worked back on defense and ended up forcing a quick turnover. With his team back on the ball he drove down the middle of the paint for a nice interior finish. Then he started to get on a roll and converted an and-one on their next offensive possession. He showed some real mental resolve for a freshman and ability to focus on the next play.

Talk about quick feet, Freeman is a tough player to stay in front of. He can change direction in an instant and weave between defenders. When he’s on, he can draw lots of attention by dicing his way inside and shows excellent vision and timing with his passes to take advantage of the moment the help side defender steps up.
