• Plays physical, full court defense. He was never afraid to pick up his matchup the whole time they handled the rock all weekend.
• Playmaking vision was elite. It was almost instant every time he had the rock his possession that he knew where his teammates were on the floor the entire offensive set.
• My favorite part to watch about his skillset was that you could tell how much passion Deontrell plays with. He made hustle plays and was motivating his teammtes constantly throughout the contest.

2024 PG Deontrell Barrett Deontrell Barrett 6'0" | PG Lancaster | 2024 TX made it clear this weekend he is one of the top defenders in the state. I’ve had him high on my radar as far as impact players but he really got to show his abilities on the big stage against some of the top scorers in the state. He took his matchups personal holding players who’ve been on streaks of 20+ point games to single digits and ultimately was the leader of Lancaster’s defense which was the best defensive squad all weekend. Offensively Barrett is no slack either, he’s recorded a couple 20 point games, high teens and continued being extremely efficient this weekend on a limited amount of shots due to playing with such talented post players. He was clutch under pressure handling the ball, burning clock and avoiding traps and turnovers which just adds to his overall value for state champ Lancaster. Coaches should be on his line immediately, every team can players who take this kind of pride in contributing on the defensive side of the ball.

2024 Deontrell Barrett Deontrell Barrett 6'0" | PG Lancaster | 2024 TX was impressive for Lancaster in Friday’s loss to St. Raymonds (NY). He seemed to keep a cool demeaner even when things got a little hectic understanding that the team composer comes from it’s senior leaders. He showed some good things on tape against some elite competition mainly his shot off the catch finishing with 23 and the games leading scorer. His ability to play on or off ball makes him valuable to be on the court, he was patient when getting pressed and helped get the ball up court when Lancaster struggled in that area. He also can stretch the court as a shooter, he made several triples of the catch which forced the defense to give 1 on 1 opportunities to his teammates who are really good in the isolation setting. Deontrell is a player to have on your radar and if he plays like this consistently he should pick up some looks and interests to play at the next level.

Deontrell Barrett Deontrell Barrett 6'0" | PG Lancaster | 2024 TX made an immediate impact, drawing two quick fouls on the first two possessions against DeSoto High School by aggressively attacking the basket off the tip and taking a charge on the next play. Throughout the game, Barrett displayed a skill for initiating body contact and drawing fouls, creating four fouls in total. Most of his effectiveness on the floor extended to the subtle aspects of the game.
