was great in a 61-53 loss, rallying his troops to seize a six-point third quarter lead after trailing by as many as 14 points. Thomas posted 23 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. He was locked in off the dribble, getting to his spots in the mid-range. The accurate shooter made things happen at the rim and in transition. When he wasn’t looking to score, he was setting up Kenny Brayboy for monstrous alley oop slams.

Thomas is a high-IQ point guard that’s won a ton of games in his career. Had a great summer with Atlanta Celtics followed by a solid senior campaign at Eagles Landing. Thomas makes a lot of tough shots from all over the floor and knows how to create his own look. Should make an impact right away at Mercer.

It only took three quarters of play (and actually maybe less) for the Mercer-signee to lead his team to another Region title. The Eagles jumped out on Union Grove 14-0 and built a 41-23 halftime lead, Thomas with 21 of his game-high 22 points in the first half. David was his usual electric self, a blur in transition, scoring on a pair of layups but also had his jumper working, canning two threes and sinking a pair of jumpers. When Thomas’ jump shot is on – which it usually is – he’s incredibly difficult to stop. David plays at a different speed than everyone else on the floor.

was consistently great for 4 quarters in a 66-50 win against Langston Hughes. His 29 points led all scorers and his tough shotmaking ability was on full display. Thomas scored it efficiently from all 3 levels and had some tough finishes at the cup. He got his three ball going in the 3rd quarter, reminding the defense that he’s not the guy to leave open. His teammates feed off his cool confidence and when he’s on the floor, he totally controls the pace of the game. Thomas committed to Mercer a few months back and he’s now fully focused on a state championship run.

in transition. Once Eagle’s Landing broke out of the halfcourt game and played the full 94-feet, they blew Buford out of the water 73-50. Thomas was the catalyst, scoring 11 of his 17 points in the second half, assaulting the rim on coast-to-coast drives. Thomas has terrific body control. He absorbs contact and can locate the rim and finish when being fouled. Even when Thomas was having a quiet first half, he was still a positive influencer with his floor game. He finished with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks. Thomas should make an impact right away at Mercer.

is a wily veteran. He’s electric in transition, using his superior body control to hang in the air and score through contact. Thomas has a complete floor-game, making an impact on both ends of the floor. David has a state title under his belt.

Mercer-commit has big game experience, playing in two and winning one state title. Stuffs the stat sheet. Three-level scorer that also takes pride in his rebounding and defense. Elite finisher through contact and electric in transition.

No. 5 – Mercer landed a plug-and-play guard that will flourish in Macon. Thomas has long been regarded as one of the best guards in Georgia. He’s a very good athlete that absorbs contact when finishing at the rim. David gets good lift on his jump shot. What has always impressed me with Thomas is his ability to fill up the stat sheet. He’s a very good on-ball defender with quick instincts.
