Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
Slizik scored just four points, but his impact on CV’s win went far beyond the box score. He consistently positioned himself well to secure defensive rebounds and created scoring opportunities for teammates with his passing. Slizik also recorded four steals and showed a relentless willingness to scrap for extra possessions. He’s the epitome of a foxhole guy and someone you trust to do the little things that help you win.

Slizik provided a great spark for Char Valley with his play. He has no issue sacrificing his body for the good of the team and making hustle plays. He was able to chip in 12 points with a pair of three pointers. Slizik touches the game in many different ways and could be the glue that holds CV together. He should see some traction at the small college level.

Danny Slizik has taken his game from being a sharpshooting specialist to an all-around player. His defense has continued to improve, and on offense, he has become more aggressive in driving to the basket. This shift has added a new dimension to his game, making him less predictable and more challenging to defend. That said, Danny always catches the ball ready to shoot. His dedication to enhancing his game was evident in his performances during the AAU season. As a result of his development, Danny is starting to attract interest from Division III colleges.

Danny Slizik’s defensive game is anchored by his exceptionally quick hands and ability to read passing lanes. And in my opinion, he is one of the best defenders in the Pittsburgh area. Offensively, Slizik is a sharpshooter, but he’s also improved his game in other ways. When defenses overplay him, he has no issue taking the ball to the rim. Look for him to have a break-out season for Chartiers Valley this season.

Danny Slizik has been showcasing an increasingly versatile skill set for the Steeltown AAU program. What has always stood out about Slizik is his elite shooting stroke. He has a compact, repeatable release. With his feet set, he is absolutely lethal from three-point range. While Slizik was more of a specialist last season for Chartiers Valley, his game has expanded tremendously in the early AAU period. He has taken on more of a scoring load, becoming far more aggressive putting the ball on the floor. Slizik has shown the ability to blow by defenders and finish plays around the basket. After earning Honorable Mention All-Section honors a year ago, it’s clear Slizik is elevating his game for the upcoming season.

Danny Slizik is playing this summer with Steeltown AAU. I’m liking what I’m seeing with how he is diversifying his game. His defense has always been on point. He has quick hands and jumps passing lanes like crazy. Offensively, Slizik is a top spot up shooter. However, he is developing as a player who can also take it to the rim. He boasts a high basketball IQ and will continue to improve over the summer. He was selected to the Honorable Mention All-Section team last season with Chartiers Valley and with his trajectory, he should make 1st or 2nd team next year.
