Smith built up some considerable buzz this summer with Team CP3 on the EYBL platform and backed up the hype with a dynamic performance in a win over Lake Taylor. The sophomore controlled the game throughout with the ball in his hands, mostly getting where he wanted on the floor while striking a smooth balance between scoring and facilitating. He’s able to get exceptionally low to out-leverage his defender and turn the corner, showing mature pace and an advanced ability to use bumps for his size and age. He shows promising instincts on the defensive end, helping get the Saints out into transition going back the other way. We’d like to see Smith grow into a more vocal leader as he gets older but his ability to command a game from a skill standpoint is second to none in the class.

Smith may just be the best guard in the RVA regardless of class, and he’s ready to lead a talented St. Chris team who can take on anyone when he’s got it going. While he isn’t the biggest guy he is super shifty off the bounce with great change of pace and the ability to get into his shot whenever he wants, he can make tough shots from all three levels and without a ton of space, he’s an explosive and crafty finisher around the rim, and he’s got the dog in him with a competitive chip where he’ll take on anyone anywhere.

Smith is looking like he may be the best guard in Richmond right now regardless of class, as he showed up Sunday and put on an absolute show and is primed to have a huge sophomore season for a St. Chris team that will be tough for anyone to match up with this year. While he may only be 6’0” he’s a super dynamic and explosive guard who can get where he wants to and do what he wants to at will. He has great change of pace and direction off the bounce with the ability to create space and make tough shots, he is an athletic and crafty finisher around the rim, he can drill it from deep and is excellent in ball screens, and he has good feel as a playmaker as well.

Smith had a breakout summer and has begun to pick up multiple Division I offers from programs around the country. The sophomore is a dynamic point guard with above average quickness and athleticism who can score at all three levels and create his own offense off the dribble. He has an impressive feel for the game and plays with poise and confidence with the ball in his hands. Smith has established himself as one of the more intriguing point guard prospects in the 2029 class and should continue to see his recruitment grow during the 2026-27season.

Damari Smith Damari Smith 6'0" | PG St. Christopher's | 2029 State VA is one of the nation’s best players overall and for his position. He is an elite Point Guard who excels in getting downhill, getting to his spots, and creating for others. Damari is one of the best on-ball defenders in the state and was a major piece to their success last season. Damari already holds multiple Power 5 Division 1 scholarships, and I fully expect his recruitment to keep rising, especially with another strong year for St. Chris.

Smith starred for Team CP3 at the Peach Jam averaging 23 points and 5.6 assists per game against some of the country’s top prospects. The rising sophomore is excellent at creating offense off the dribble. He is a three level scorer who can finish creatively in the paint and is a very efficient shot maker from beyond the arc. Smith changes speeds well with the ball in his hands and has an advanced feel for the game. Expect him to be amoung the nation’s best at the point guard position in the 2029 recruiting class.

Damari is one of the nation’s best point guards in his class and already holds 4 high-major Division 1 offers. Damari is a phenomenal playmaker and has elite athleticism, who can hurt opposing defenses with his quick first step to attack the rim or with his pull-up jumper. Damari was a big reason for St. Chris’ success last year as he came in and made an immediate impact. What I love most about his game is his ability to defend at a high level on and off the ball. He had a game last year as a freshman where he had 9 steals in a single game; that kind of performance is rare, especially from a freshman. He plays with great maturity beyond his years and will show that once again this weekend why he is the top PG in the state, regardless of class.

One of the top point guards in the EYBL 15u Division this spring, Smith averaged 16.4 points and 6.6 assists per game for Team CP3 and he has continued his positive momentum with St. Christopher’s this summer. The rising sophomore is a quick, athletic, attacking lead guard who is difficult for defenders to keep out of the paint. He is an above the rim finisher who is very effective in transition. Smith sees the floor well and is able to find open teammates with on time and on target passes. He looks to be one of the nation’s top point guard prospects in the 2029 recruiting class.

Smith continues to look advanced for his age. He handled pressure comfortably, created separation off the bounce, and showed confidence running a team. His creativity with the ball and willingness to attack gaps stood out repeatedly. For a younger guard, he already plays with strong pace and offensive feel.

The freshman point guard stepped into a major role this season for St. Christopher’s as the team’s primary ball handler and helped lead the Saints to a Prep League championship.

Watching Smith play, it’s clear he doesn’t carry himself like a typical freshman. He plays with great confidence and maturity, highlighted by a quick first step, elite athleticism, and a relentless competitive motor. His work ethic is well known. He’s someone who lives in the gym. That dedication shows every time he steps on the floor.

Smith impacts the game in multiple ways. He’s a strong playmaker. He consistently finds teammates in the right spots. He is also a dynamic scorer.
