Garcia had such a good summer with Team Together that Croix became one of the few younger Kansas high school players to get an offer (USM). In a time where colleges are recruiting high school talent less and less (meaning even less early scholarship offers for 16u kids), Garcia earning that option speaks volumes. Garcia controlled the game as well as any lead guard and he earned first team all league and 16u all state.

When it comes to accomplished team leaders who took his team to higher places, Garcia impressed in a big way at 16u. Led his team to elite eight in Chicago.

A point guard that was offered by St. Mary after the weekend, Garcia’s ability to get to a clear look and use his touch is what really caught my attention.

Garcia has to be one of the quickest players out of his separation move into his attempt that I have seen. The separation dribble into the lift, the step back into the left, the stop on a dime and lift, it’s so quick that the defender has almost no chance unless they have really good length during the recovery. One of the quickest change of directions you will see and as that is incorporated into all parts of the halfcourt game as Croix because an experienced veteran, Garcia will be even tougher to deal with.

For what Garcia may lack in size, he more than makes up for with his quickness and explosiveness. With the ball in his hands, he’s a blur, darting in and out of defenses and getting wherever he wants on the floor. His handle is elusive, allowing him to create space and attack gaps with great pace. Croix has shown this spring that he can operate effectively in ball screen actions and really shoot it when left open. In transition, he gets from end to end quickly, often finishing off two feet while avoiding contact in the process. Defensively, he also plays with a chip on his shoulder and challenges opposing guards with his quick feet and anticipation, often blowing up actions before they even get started.
