Brandon Ramsey | Prep Hoops Scout
There is a whole lot returning for Warren Central this coming season, but based on what we saw from this talented guard this spring and summer he will be ready to shoulder a much larger role. Lawson was good on the UA Rise Circuit for Progeny 16u displaying some creative ball handling and finishing ability as a smaller guard while also shooting it well from beyond the arc. HIs crafty playmaking, and perimeter shot making, will be crucial for a Warren Central team that will need an offensive punch. Lawson is an under-the-radar guard in the Class of 2027 to watch over the next couple of years.

A smaller point guard for Progeny 16u, Lawson had some big games over the weekend at UA Rise Session I. He was a big part of a come-from-behind win on Saturday morning scoring 12 points that included a tough off-hand floater in the lane, a pull-up mid-range jumper, and a three-point shot from the left wing. Lawson also reportedly posted a double-double with points and assists in Progeny’s afternoon win on Saturday. The Warren Central High School product is a crafty offensive player with plenty of ball skill that puts pressure on opposing defenses from all levels.

Lawson was the main ball-handler for Progeny 16 u and I thought he played that role ver well. Pretty carafe with his handles and got the dunes off balance a bit, just needs to work keeping those handles a tighter. As scorer, he mostly tries to create in the lane but did have a nice pull-up from three. Good upside.

This Warren Central High School product was extremely active off of the ball in our 5-on-5 games. Lawson was able to get open via a backcut on a couple of different occasions which allowed him to finish at the rim despite being a smaller guard. On top of his interior finishes, the 5’8″ point guard also knocked down a three-point shot showcasing some perimeter skill and deep range.
