Roman Nose has had a strong high school career and tonight was one of the best examples of his two-way brilliance. He often covered the best scorer for Midwest City, forcing bad looks and even some turnovers. Then when a teammate had second quarter foul trouble, it was his hard nosed scoring with finishing through contact at the rim and fouled on a mid-range that built their second quarter lead. He’s a stone faced assassin and more memorable moments should come in the upcoming weeks.

Roman Nose seems to either have a sixth sense for steals and blocks. Or a teleporting ability, because he often pops up out of nowhere to make a steal. Or keeps rising just enough to get a piece of a shot at the rim. Along with his numerous defensive accolades, he’s a stone faced assassin on the offensive end. He recently rewrote the El Reno record book by becoming their all time leading scorer.
One of the most productive players of the class. He will be looking to make a State Title push before making a college decision. Cameron recently offered, joining previous offers from Redlands, NOC Enid and UCO.

There are few players in Oklahoma who can change games on both ends of the court as well as Roman Nose does. Need him to switch onto a big and make a stop? He’ll do that by using his outstanding defensive awareness and deceptive hops and quickness. Big threes? Tough buckets at the rim? Teleporting out of nowhere to deflect/steal a pass? He does it all and he did all those things throughout Saturday’s win.
Roman Nose was the go to man in the first quarter, and showed that it’s not a mismatch when he’s on a post player. As he has quick hands and timing to block shots of taller players. Then in a tied game, it was Roman Nose who drilled the go ahead three from the corner. There might be players who are more flashy than the El Reno senior, but few are more productive than the stone faced Roman Nose.

Do it all guard with unreal defensive instincts. Plays fast and hard but is never in a hurry or out of control. He doesn’t have the suddenness of some high flyers, but still has great elevation which is evident in his finishes at the rim. And allows him to block a variety of shots, transition chase downs, flying out to block jump shooters, etc. Quick hands and active long arms also led to deflections and steals. Offensively he can fit in as an off the ball scorer, especially as a shooter. But is an unselfish player who often makes the right pass and can do some damage off the dribble. Hard to pinpoint a true hole in his game, should be a no brainer for regional small college programs.

Carter hit the ground running at the Grind Region Kick Off by showcasing his defensive instincts and ability to score in transition. He was able to tally 18 steals across his first three games this and displayed elite on-ball pressure for nearly the entirety of his playing time. Carter is also an underrated athlete, finishing through defenders at the rim with ease. Coming off an impressive season for El Reno, Carter is poised for an even bigger year in his senior season and should absolutely be on coaches’ radars throughout this summer and into next season.

Fresh off a fantastic junior campaign at El Reno, Roman Nose was a game changer on the defensive end for Next Level. He has a gambler like style to how he plays defense. With his outstanding instincts and strong functional athleticism, the gambles often pay off. This includes being in the passing lanes on defense and even crashing down to block bigger player’s shots as a helpside defender. One of the plays of the game came when he tipped a pass to himself, gathered it and raced to the other end for a two hand flush. This was a great example of the functional athleticism the guard plays with. He’s not a tear off the rim off type explosive leaper. But he’s quick, fluid and covers ground easily with great body control. He won’t “wow” people with the way he moves, but he gets it done at a higher rate than better athletes.

The junior recently broke the 1,000 point mark for a surging El Reno squad. He has a sweet shooting stroke from three, while also being one of the headiest defenders in the junior class. Watching back his performance against Guthrie in January was a great representation of the havoc he creates on the defensive end. It was a game where his shot wasn’t falling, but he forced turnovers all over the court. He has great instincts on when to jump passes, from help side steals in the post, to creating transition opportunities with deflections in the backcourt. Late in the close game, his quick hands made an appearance when he ripped the ball straight from a driver. Roman Nose now has a chance to finish the year strongly, as he’s helped El Reno to a likely top half finish in the toughest district in 5A.
