About Carson
Expert Analysis
Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
Browne is one of the more skilled bigs in Ohio with the ability to play inside and outside, hurting you with his shooting, ability to put the ball on the floor and with his size on switches in the paint. Browne scored 14 PPG for Elder this season and knocked down 34% of his 3’s and 72% of his free throws. Browne has gotten interest from numerous low major programs and holds offers to Thomas More and Findlay currently according to his twitter. A potential fit for high academic Division I schools and powerhouse scholarship non-Division I programs looking to add a skilled big man. Elder is still alive in the OHSAA playoffs so there’s still time to catch him in person before he wraps up his high school career.

out of Elder. A versatile big who has a lot of skill with his ball-handling, shooting and decision making. Elder plays a slow tempo which limits the counting numbers that Browne can put up during the high school season, but the impact on the game is obvious when you watch him play. It’ll be interesting to see if Browne ends up getting a Division I offer, or if he’ll be the most sought-after Division II big in the region.

showed some of his versatility on Tuesday in Elder’s statement victory. Browne can space the floor from the outside, shown by the three 3-pointers he made in the game. Also can do some ball-handling in the open court and make a skip pass, Browne can do a lot offensively for a guy his size. Where Browne needs to improve is punishing smaller defenders that switch onto him in the post. If Browne can score consistently over guards with his back to the basket, he could average another 3-4 points per game. Currently holding a few Division II offers with low to mid major programs closely monitoring his progress, it’ll be interesting to see where Browne ends up.

Browne is a skilled big who’s drawn college interest in both football and basketball but doesn’t have an offer in either sport. Browne has evolved his game with more perimeter based play, making passing reads from the top of the key and using the pick and pop game. Browne was one of the top players in the GCL-South last season and should have Elder once again in contention to defend their conference championship belt. It’ll be interesting to see how Browne’s recruitment plays out in each sport.
