D-I schools are starting to pop for Richards. Kennesaw State became Cannon’s second D-I offer this summer, joining Alabama A&M. Richards is incredibly bouncy. He loves to face-up from the block and mid-range, utilize his jab step and shoot the jumper. Richards can also attack with spin moves and finish with posters. Cannon’s elite athleticism allows him to rebound in crowds and protect the rim on defense.

One of the bounciest forwards in the state, Cannon Richards Cannon Richards 6'6" | PF Kell | 2024 State GA is on the precipice of cementing himself as a D-I prospect. Richards loves to attack from the high post and wing. Whenever he catches with his back to the basket he immediately faces up and goes into a triple threat. He likes to shoot over the defense or make a quick move to the baseline. While he can present some matchup problems, serving as a small-ball big or splitting time at the 3 or 4, defensively Cannon has major versatility. He erases shots and looks like a pogo stick when corralling rebounds. Against McEachern he put up 8 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks.

Richards came to life in the second half, scoring all 14 of his points to go with his 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Cannon rebounded like a mad man in the fourth quarter, swooping in to earn second chance points and drawing fouls while doing so. The springy forward went 6-7 from the line, his only miss coming on purpose. I really like what Richards brings from the high post. He’s a threat to turn and shoot or can make plays with his athleticism. His leaping ability and length make him a quality defender.

Richards finished with 14 points and was huge in the 2nd half. He had a couple of huge putbacks down the stretch that kept the game tight. He’s shown a lot of improvement since just this summer and is proving to be more than just a raw athlete. Richards has a quick jump that allows him to rebound well and finish around the rim. If his hands keep improving, his numbers will increase because of how many double teams Marshall attracts and the way that CJ Brown CJ Brown 6'2" | PG Kell | 2024 State #150 Nation GA can collapse a defense and find his bigs.

He’s a springy forward that is lightning quick off the ground. Cannon is a tough cover from the high post with his mid-range shot and fast first step downhill. Richards is a steady rim protector and has the lateral foot speed to defend on the perimeter.
