Draculan scored an efficient 21 points against West Valley, working from all three levels. He started the game out draining a few catch-and-shoot looks from the midrange where he’s done a lot of damage the last couple of years. Then he stepped out and knocked in some threes, and then started working through bodies to the rim later on. He’ll usually pace the Greyhounds in scoring and a lot of that comes from his ability to capitalize on space with his buttery jumper. He can elevate in pockets to knock down midrange jumpers but also looked a little smoother on his long-range attempts.

Draculan had a nice breakout last season to help lead Grandview to the 2A state title game and continued to be a force for them this weekend. He’s an excellent finisher from the midrange and in, displaying a soft shooting touch from middy, and some solid burst to get up at the rim and finish. He’s a tough kid that plays bigger than his size suggests and has great activity off the ball to find open areas to attack.

In a crucial second-round game, Draculan came through with consistent scoring throughout all four quarters to lead the Greyhounds to the bi-district championship game. He was really effective catching in the midrange and taking his man off the dribble to the hoop. He assesses driving lanes, has a quick first step, and showed he can finish in various ways in the paint – hitting tough runners, using either hand and side of the hoop, and drawing trips to the free throw line. He was constantly drawing multiple defenders, hit some nice midrange jumpers with a high release over the top of defenders, and was active attacking the offensive glass to keep possessions alive. Grandview needs just one more victory to clinch a trip to the 2A state tournament.
