Expert Analysis

Phillips was really good this summer with the Battlers, showing the ability to score inside and out, at times being a dominant force around the rim on both ends. A 6-5/6-6 forward with quick feet, soft hands, and great touch around the bucket, he has a few go-to moves on post touches and is a good passer with great court vision. He has improved his ability to create off the dribble when he catches it on the perimeter, and is enough of a perimeter shooting threat that it needs to be respected. He could turn into a stretch-4 at the next level.

Brevin Phillips Brevin Phillips 6'5" | PF Urbandale | 2024 State IA is piecing together a very interesting spring season while quite literally jumping off of the screen. Phillips is the definition of a high flyer. An athletic player with great speed and ability on the court, who seems to float in the air any time he leaves his feet wether it’s for a monstrous dunk or to protect the rim on the defensive side of things. When you look at his skill set, athletic ability, and IQ for the game there is no reason to think that he couldn’t be a high volume producer at the college level. He has displayed this spring that he is always one of the best overall players on the floor when he is out there competing. He is going to use this momentum to help him elevate his game even more-so into the summer/winter seasons. Something that is more than possible when it comes to a player with a ceiling like this.

Phillips was assigned to Team 4 but spent the afternoon playing on another team. We will still post his evaluation here. A big, physical forward with nimble feet, Phillips became a favorite of mine during the summer playing with the Iowa Battlers and he continued that solid play on Saturday. He has really good footwork, hands, and touch around the bucket with either hand. He rebounds well on both ends of teh floor and is a good enough passer that the offense can flow through him.
