Blayne Marshall
About Blayne
Expert Analysis
Daniel Siehndel | Prep Hoops Scout
Marshall has been a consistent volume scorer all season for the Jaguars, using his athleticism and explosiveness to his advantage. Blayne plays with the pedal down in transition, attacking the rim with pressure. He welcomes contact, drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line frequently — and he makes teams pay once he’s there.
But Marshall isn’t just a finisher at the rim — there’s a lot more to his game. He’s a capable shooter from long range, and for a guard, he’s an exceptional rebounder who outworks opponents on the glass and creates extra possessions. When you factor in his defensive instincts and ability to anticipate plays, it’s clear he brings value a lot of value on both ends. Blayne’s unique two-way impact should make him an interesting name to follow in Columbia.

Rivalry games often bring out the best in players, especially those who embrace the intensity and emotion that come with them. Marshall led Blue Springs South to a hard-fought victory over Blue Springs on Friday, delivering yet another offensive outburst we’ve seen multiple times this season. He made the critical plays down the stretch that propelled the Jaguars to a narrow win.
As a driver, Blayne attacked the rim early and often, slicing through the defense and using his strength and finishing ability to great effect. He played consistently through contact, staying balanced and strong at the point of attack. In transition, he frequently changed speeds, keeping defenders off balance and creating opportunities for himself and teammates. Late in the game, his outside shooting came through when it mattered most, helping to seal the outcome.
What separates Marshall from many other guards in the area is his impact beyond just scoring. His defensive presence and ability to rebound from the guard spot give the Jaguars flexibility with their lineups and schemes, allowing them to execute in a variety of ways on both ends of the floor.

Marshall is an extremely athletic, multi-sport standout who helped lead Blue Springs South to a strong finish last season, highlighted by several key wins. As a junior, he made his mark primarily on the defensive end — disrupting opposing offenses with relentless on-ball pressure, generating steals, and forcing turnovers at a high rate. Marshall’s athleticism also translated well in transition, where he excelled at pushing the pace and finishing at the rim. He had multiple breakout performances where he scored at will, attacking the basket with confidence and knocking down perimeter shots when given space. Heading into his senior year, Marshall will be expected to take on a larger offensive role. For Blue Springs South to reach the next level, he’ll need to become a consistent scoring threat from all three levels and improve his ability to create for teammates. If he pairs that offensive growth with his already elite defensive presence, Blue Springs South has a real shot at making a deeper postseason run.
