Another Team CP3 bench big who starred in his role was Deng. With all of the talented playmakers and scorers that their E16 squad has, Biar isn’t asked to do much, but he is excellent in what he does. Listed at 6’10”, Deng has the length to be an effective rim runner and rim protector, but he also has the desire to deflect passes in the paint, tie up loose balls, and help out his teammates when they get beat. Offensively, he does have a little bit of skill, as he showed with an impressive post-spin, but on this squad, his ability to catch lobs is a back-breaker for opposing defenses.

Deng is a thin bodied four man that makes his largest impact on the defensive end.  Switchable defender on the perimeter who can stay with a guard for several dribbles.  Timing and feel as a shot blocker inside.  Offensively works best out of the dunker spot and on lobs.  He had 5 points (2-3 FG), 3 blocks, and 2 steals.

Deng continues to prove his value with this Team CP3 EYBL 16u team as a forward willing to do the dirty work and find a way to help his team in any way possible. On a weekend where this group went 2-2, Deng only played in three of the games but he did average 10.0 Points, 4.0 Rebounds, 2.7 Steals, and 1.3 Blocks per game while shooting 74% from the floor. He plays with a super high level of activity on both ends of the floor, using his length and size to cause disruption and swing possessions on the defensive end of the floor. He’s a low maintenance producer that knows exactly what he is and more importantly what he isn’t. Look for Deng to continue his level of production and value for this Team CP3 group as they look to make a Peach Jam push and prove his value as a next level prospect in the process.

Deng is a very interesting front-court prospect who looks to be a fast riser in North Carolina’s 2028 class after a strong weekend with Team CP3 16u EYBL, helping them go 4-0 down in Atlanta. Deng averaged 9.8 Points, 5.3 Rebounds, 0.5 Assists, 0.5 Steals, and 1.5 Blocks per game while shooting 74% from the floor and 50% from the free throw line. Deng is a mobile big man with long arms and great anticipation as a shot blocker. He can get off the floor to rebound, finish at the rim, and block shots while showing upside with his hands and touch.
