Ater has some attributes that make him a very intriguing next level prospect. At 6’4 he has very long arms and not only do they allow him to pick up steals as he can get up in passing lanes, but when combined with his hangtime in the air he can pull off some impressive finishes with either hand. There are times where he just hangs in the air and can manipulate the ball in impressive fashion to go over, under, or around contesting defenders. He plays with a change of speed on the ball you don’t often see in someone 6’4, and is a dangerous shot creator on the perimeter who can then knock down shots with his left hand.

Ater just finished up his senior season at Austin, but will now be a member of the 2024 class at a prep school next year. The 6’4” guard looked levels above the competition this weekend and dominated when he was on the floor. Ater is a freak athlete, being able to rise above the defense for finishes and is also able to throw down momentum changing dunks in space. Manyoun thrives in creating shots for himself off the dribble. He’s able to break his defender down in isolation to get to the basket and can knock down some tough shots from the outside. Ater has so much potential as a prospect and I would not be surprised if his recruitment heats up in the coming months.

Ater Manyuon Ater Manyuon 6'4" | SF Austin | 2023 State MN is a six-foot-four-inch 2023 Senior wing from Austin. Long, athletic, real threat in transition. Especially dangerous versus taller, slower stretch four’s in the high school game. Length makes him a versatile defender allowing him to defend multiple positions. He is a dynamic finisher, especially above the rim, can be an idle 3 and D wing.

Ater has been excellent this fall, looking to fill in for a lot of lost production at Austin. With his combination of size, skill, and explosive athleticism, he looks ready for a big senior year. When Ater gets downhill there’s not much defenders can do to stop him as he can explode effortlessly off one of two feet to either finish with touch or throw down explosive dunks. Has excellent footwork to operate in the high post area at times as well, and knocked down a few turnaround jumpers from that spot as he was able to elevate and get off a shot with a hand in his face. Defensively he can guard the 1-3 but on the help-side he also provides an extra shot blocking threat because of how quickly he can get off the floor.

Ater is a highlight play waiting to happen. When he gets out in the open floor he’s one of the most explosive athletes in the state who can finish above the rim with ease. Really like the change of speed he plays with on the ball, and he has some wiggle to get to the rim or create his own shot. The lefty guard is a streaky shooter who can put up points in a hurry when he sees the ball going in. Could be in for a big year at Austin if yesterday’s play was any indication.
