About Arafan
Expert Analysis

The physical tools that this big man possesses are obvious. Diane is a true 7-footer with so much strength. However, he still moves pretty well for his size and can completely dominate the paint on both ends of the floor. A Houston signee, Diane finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds in Iowa United’s 78-58 loss to Christ School (NC).

It felt like Iowa United stole one with their 66-65 victory over Dream City Christian. Diane had multiple clutch buckets in the final minute, including the game-winning shot in the final 10 seconds. Finishing with a tied for game-high 19 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, Diane’s impact was felt on the court and in the box score. Coming up clutch when Iowa United needed buckets late, Diane helped carry his team to a crucial league victory.

dominated the paint throughout this game. His interior scoring can only be described as aggressive and physical. He shoulders defenders out of the way in the post and finishes through contact and converts through fouls. He fights for position at all times in the post and buries defenders under the rim. He sets rock-solid screens and is a huge threat as a roller. All of his dominance in the post leads to teams blitzing him very often. However, he is elite at making reads out of these doubles and creates open shots for his team routinely. Arafan is extremely impactful on the glass as well. His box outs are impossible to get around, and he brings down boards with his long arms and vertical pop. These tools also make him an elite defender and rim protector. He swats opponents like flies and dissuades them from even looking at the rim when he is in the area. Overall,

was an absolute force of nature inside the painted area. Arafan’s strength, size, and tenacity just flat out overwhelmed his opponents. In the post, he was able to back down opposing big men and stuff them in the rim with hard jams inside. His touch was also very impressive in the post, where he would carve out space with his body and hit post fades and jump shots. The immense pressure he puts on the rim also opens up his passing, where he is very adept at keeping his head up and finding cutters for open looks at the rim.

is brilliant in how he fights for position inside and absorbs hard contact like it’s nothing on his way to and one finishes. He also plays with heaps of emotion and heart.

The No. 79 player in the class of 2026, Diane has dominated some of the best competition in the country this summer. A monstrous, strong body that moves fluidly in the paint with a myriad of post moves, Diane is virtually unstoppable when he gets two feet in the paint. With a myriad of post moves, plus the ability to simply overpower the competition, Diane is quite the opposite of an easy guard.
A baby Shaquille O’Neal type within a few feet of the cup, Diane can also step out and shoot it from three, making him one of the more versatile bigs in the country. He can also draw fouls and make free throws with the best of them. Not only that, but Diane has shown flashes of being an elite passer for his size.
With offers from Houston, Florida, Oregon, Arizona, BYU, Creighton, Arizona, Indiana, Kansas and a plethora of others, Diane will have his pick of the lot when decision time rolls around.

Arafan was practically unstoppable when left alone on the block. At 7’1 he was simply too big and too strong for just about anyone to contain. Diane showed comfort turning over his left shoulder to finish with a right handed hook shot, or could back you all the way down and throw down a Shaq-like two handed dunk right over his man. Even showed some touch along the baseline with a couple of one-footed jumpers from around 10 feet. Super intriguing prospect moving forward because he has size and strength that you simply can’t teach, and still has two more years of high school to keep getting better.

It’s easy to see why Diane, who plays his high school ball in Canada, holds a number of Division I offers already. The 7-1 big man is a mobile, physically imposing presence in the paint who can turn shots away at one end, then finish with an emphatic dunk on the other. He has good hands and does a good job controlling the painted area on both ends of the floor. His offensive game is still a work in progress, but he showed good touch and a reliable go-to move when he catches the ball on the left block and goes across the lane into a righty jumphook. He looks to dunk just about everything around the rim and is an assertive player on both ends of the floor who has a very bright future if he continues to work hard and develop his all-around game. He was absolutely dominant, scoring 28 points in the win.

Arafan is likely the biggest player I’ll see all spring/summer, and when he catches in the paint there’s not much you can do to stop him. Listed at 7’1 with a strong and physical frame, Arafan was able to bully his way to the basket and throw down dunks over anyone who stood in his way. Also showed touch with his right handed baby-hook, as not many teams are going to have the length to contest it. Works hard to get up and down the floor at his size as well. Helped lead his team to three big wins on the day.
