One of the most athletic players in SW Ohio, Allen is a high-flying guard who has some ridiculous highlights. Still competing in the playoffs, Allen will lead Dunbar against Woodward on Sunday in a Division II district final at Xavier University. I’ve written about Allen numerous times but his athleticism, shot-making ability and ability to play on or off the ball are all intriguing skills that he’ll bring to the college level. Allen has also been one of the most productive players in the Dayton area over the past two seasons.

One of the more athletic guards still available in the 2023 class, Allen is a big-time producer in transition. I’ve been impressed with the steps he’s taken as a lead guard with playmaking and taking care of the basketball. Allen has had some incredible athletic showings with powerful dunks and chase down blocks. Scholarship programs that play at a fast tempo that are looking for a guard should take a hard look at what Allen could bring to their program.

Allen had a super quiet 20 ball for Dunbar on Sunday. The kid just simply scores the ball. He has been doing it all season for the Wolverines. He gets a lot of second-chance points and does a lot of scoring around the rim. He isn’t the most flashy player but his fundamentals are great. He does not wow you with any part of his game but he has no weakness in his game. As solid as they come.

Allen went off in the second half and completely changed the game after the Wolverines fell down by as many as 20 points. Allen was getting after it defensively and most importantly getting hot from the 3-point line. Dunbar started turning over the Comets and Allen was the opportunist by scoring during full-court pressure chaos. Allen looks like a scholarship combo guard and should be a high priority for up-tempo Division II and NAIA programs. Despite not getting the win in the end, Allen’s heroics in the second half were impressive and showed the resiliency of his team.

The most explosive guard from the event, Allen had some ridiculous dunks all morning. Some of his craziest plays were alley-oops with his left hand, breakaway slams and blowing by a defender into a slam dunk. Allen was rising above defenders but also played hard on both ends and was one of the most productive players at the event. Based on what I saw on Saturday and the reports coming out of the ‘Last Chance’ event Sunday, Allen needs to be given closer looks by scholarship programs looking for an athletic combo guard in an up-tempo system.

Allen put on a show in Columbus with one of the most impressive performances of the day. The 6’2 CG was the most explosive athletes in the event, finishing on the receiving end of multiple alley-oops in transition. Finessed around the rim and around defenders. Active defender with his elevation and quick hands. Showing me he could be a scholarship prospect.
