Finishing second in the Dayton City League in scoring as just a sophomore, Whitfield made his name known in Dayton this season. The lefty wing guard is a relentless attacker to the rim with an advanced understanding of how to score around the rim past defenders, allowing Whitfield to lead the Dayton City League in FG%. Whitefield’s ability to get to the foul line also stands out, as he shot four or more free throws 14 times as a Sophomore. Despite standing at 6’0, Whitfield was also second in the Dayton City League in rebounding as well, showing his high motor and relentless pursuit of loose balls. Overall, you won’t find too many more productive underclassmen in the Dayton area from the class of 2028 than Whitfield.

Dayton Dunbar came out and played aggressive, physical basketball that allowed them to simply overpower their opposition at the rim. Whitfield fits that style of play perfectly as a bully-ball style lefty guard who wants to play through contact on the offensive end of the court. Dayton Dunbar also thrived in the open court where Whitfield had a handful of easy assists to open teammates. A scrappy group, Dayton Dunbar’s relentless defense and ability to score on the fast break will make them a tough out this season.
