Some times you have to wait your turn to shine. Such is the case with Braun. After receiving limited playing time as a junior, Braun has blossomed into an all-league caliber player for Madison Memorial as a senior. His hard work and love for the game has yielded big results for one of the state’s top teams. Braun leads Madison Memorial in scoring, averaging just over 16 points per game. And his ability to score off the dribble and from outside the three-point arc is huge for coach Steve Collins’ squad. Braun is also one of the better players in the Big Eight Conference in drawing fouls and earning trips to the free throw line.

With future college coach Casey Korn of Lawrence University looking on, Braun picked his spots and put in an efficient 20 points for Madison Memorial in its win over Sun Prairie West. The 6-foot-2 wing guard made two shots from outside the three-point arc, finished off two nice drives to the basket and also made all eight of his foul shots. Braun has worked hard over the past several seasons to become the player he is today — one of the elite performers in the Big Eight Conference.

Braun was one of the better guard rebounders for his size that I saw at Babson. He isn’t a freak athlete or leaper but has a strong base in his lower body and some excellent timing when it comes to skying for boards. Once he gets the rebound, he does a great job beating the defense down the floor in transition and making the correct play for himself or others. He didn’t knock down the three ball in the game I watched, but he has a nice-looking shot, so I bet that’s in his game. He should find a D3 fit somewhere — he’s a complete workhorse and can help out in a variety of ways on the court. I could even see high D3.

Braun is a wired-to-score wing player who is super aggressive off the bounce and is able to finish through contact. He has worked hard on improving his three-point shot and is now confidence in taking shots from beyond the arc. Braun plays with 110 percent effort each time he steps onto the court and is coming off a strong spring while competing with the Wisconsin Dynasty program. Braun is hoping to land a starting spot at Madison Memorial in 2025-26 after coming off the bench for veteran coach Steve Collins as a junior.
