Maguire continues to impress me with his ability to play tons of different roles. The 6-foot-2 guard clearly decided it was his time to be a pure point guard at Tuesday’s Elite 75, and he showed out while doing so. He made the right decision 98% of the time—whether it showed up in the stats or not—but also picked his spots to score over smaller/weaker defenders and on guys who went under screens. He does all the little things on both ends and is an awesome teammate to play with. Maguire might not seem like an amazing athlete, but he can get up for two handed dunks and is more explosive than he looks. D3 guy who should be at the helm of Cheshire’s offense this season.

Maguire always impresses me. He has a phenomenal skillset and no weakness offensively, so he’s able to take whatever the defense gives him. If they go under screens, he’ll make outside shots. But if you chase him over ball screens, he uses his strength and ball handling ability to put you in jail and get a paint touch—the 6-foot guard is a lot stronger and more athletic than he looks, and he holds his line quite well. What’s even more awesome is that Maguire can cut off the ball and make himself useful that way, too, which makes him that much more effective in an offense. I would expect him to be one of Cheshire’s leading scorers this season, and all levels should be intrigued by him. Winner.

Maguire was tasked with a massive offensive load on Sunday, because Cushing chased him over screens and forced him to dribble into the lane and make decisions at the nail. But the 6-foot-2 guard really impressed me with his quickness and strength, and he made good passes in the lane when he needed to. I also love the way Maguire cuts off the ball—he has clearly learned how to play with John Spinoso John Spinoso 6'5" | SF Cheshire Academy | 2026 State New E and has developed some beautiful chemistry with him, and that’ll pay off for him at the next level.

Maguire impressed playing on or off the basketball. He is a threat to score from deep. I liked how he was also able to touch the paint and find others for scoring chances. Maguire time and time again was in spots to frequently gather steals.
