Tomori always seems to play well when we’ve watched him. The physically strong and versatile guard/forward can guard bigger players near the basket or go out on the perimeter and check guards and wings. Offensively, Tomori was outstanding against Verona. He came off the bench to score 18 points and knocked down two three-point baskets. Appleton North attempted just three foul shots in the game, all by junior

. Tomori should get to the foul stripe more since he loves to attack the basket, but his hasn’t been able to draw fouls much in the early season. Tomori, also a good football prospect, can finish well above the rim, although he missed a dunk late in the game that hindered the Lightning in its narrow loss to Verona.

Tomori strength and build stood out at the guard position at the expo. He was effective attacking the basket from the perimeter. He also proved to have back to the basket capabilities. Team 2 benefited from his ability to score it in on all three levels of the floor.

College football coaches like to use the term ‘athlete’ to describe a player who might not have a truly defined position, but could be pegged into several different spots to help a team win. Tomori is basketball’s version of an ‘athlete’ as he isn’t a point guard, power forward, center or even shooting guard, yet his presence on the floor leads to good things for his team. His athleticism and physical strength stand out immediately. He can soar above the rim for rebounds and dunks, and can guard on the perimeter with his lateral movement or in the post with his physicality and jumping ability. A key player for an Appleton North squad expecting big things in 2024-25, Tomori averaged 13 points and 5 rebounds as a junior for the Lightning.

Tomori has a strong build and puts that to use in the lane. He showed a variety of moves including a nice turn-around in the paint, a straight pull-up mid-range J, and converted off drives and rebounds as well. He also knocked down a corner three in this game, to show his ability to score at all three levels.

Abraham was another standout from Appleton North’s win over Tosa West. He’s a strong and physical wing who plays a lot bigger than his 6’2 listed height. Tomori was contributing as a rebounder, versatile defender, and outside shooting threat. Appleton North has a well-rounded starting five, and Abraham did a great job of not forcing his game, and taking quality looks. Saw varsity minutes as a freshman and has steadily improved his production each year since.
