The high school season has ended and the Class of 2022 flexed its muscles as arguably the best in the state from top to bottom. Let’s take a closer look at the rankings and see what we discover.
Best Scorer
It is hard to argue with the top scorer in New Jersey. Maurice Odum Maurice Odum 6'1" | PG West Oaks | 2022 State FL led the state in scoring with 736 total points for an average of 27.3 per game. And he is only a sophomore. Odum is a 6’1 guard who, simply put, is good at a lot of things on the basketball court. Odum knocked down 86 three’s and got to the line with regularity finishing with 157 made free throws. Odum has two more years left to grow his skills.

Best Floor General
Manasquan went 31-1 this season. Their lone loss came on a last second shot against Roselle Catholic. they ran through the Shore Conference Tournament and Central Jersey Group 2 state tournament. Ben Roy Ben Roy 6'2" | PG Manasquan | 2022 State #218 Nation NJ is the reason why. Roy scored 18 points a game. He was an elite shooter and above average passer. Roy was named as the Shore Conference Player of the Year as a sophomore. All of the numbers and accolades are there. If you were selecting a point guard, it is hard to go against Roy.

Best Shooter
Jake Green was a marksman for Cherry Hill East. He led the state in three’s made with 102. That is an incredible number. Green was an electric spot up shooter but also did work off the dribble. He is a shooter that can create for himself and his teammates.

Best Post Player
The Class of 2022 is very guard heavy and that is a testament to all of the incredible players. Lual Manyang Lual Manyang 6'10" | C Blair Academy | 2022 State #232 Nation NJ of Blair breaks that trend. He is a highly rated player because of his size and attributes. Manyang is 6’10 with quick feet and strong hands. The key to a good post player is control. Manyang is always under control and this helps on both ends of the court. He will be a highly sought after prospect over the next two years.

Best Combo Guard
It is hard to get better than Zion Cruz Zion Cruz 6'4" | SG Patrick School | 2022 #26 Nation CA-S in the Class of 2022. He is currently the top-ranked player. Cruz is a Division I point guard right now. Cruz can get into the lane and finish above larger defenders. He is elite at creating his own shot and has an above average pull up jumper. Cruz can also shoot from deep. He is a combo guard that can run an offense or give the ball up and play on the wing.
