2020 Rankings Update: Highest Debuts
Goanar Biliew Goanar Biliew 6'8" | PF Denison-Schleswig | 2020 State IA | PF | Denison-Schleswig | 21
A springy, 6-8 forward with great size, length and athleticism, Biliew is the type of rim-running, rim protector that college programs covet. He’s remarkably efficient, rebounds at a high level, blocked 71 shots and has shown an ability to step out and knock down an occasional 3. If he can keep expanding his range and become a consistent 3-point shooter, he could have a great collegiate career.
Kiks Rosengarten Kiks Rosengarten 6'7" | PF Wapsie Valley | 2020 State IA | PF | Wapsie Valley | 37
This 6-7 lefty puts the “power” in power forward. He’s a really strong big man who loves to play through contact. He has great hands, good footwork and touch around the rim, and can step out and knock down an occasional 3. He’s tough and loves to rebound. What more could you want? After playing for legendary coach Marty McKowen in high school (and helping him win his first state title), Rosengarten will head to Upper Iowa to play for Marty’s son, Brooks.
Bradley Andrews Bradley Andrews 6'6" | PF Charles City | 2020 State IA | PF | Charles City | 45
A supremely athletic 6-7 lefty big man, Andrews provided plenty of highlights throughout the year with his ability to finish above the rim. He has worked to expand his game, and is a capable shooter from the arc while also being a viable rim protector. He’s an explosive athlete with good hands, solid footwork and touch around the bucket.
Tyler Johnson Tyler Johnson 6'4" | SF Norwalk | 2020 State IA | SF | Norwalk | 47
Playing alongside Bowen Born Bowen Born 5'11" | PG Norwalk | 2020 State #401 Nation IA , Johnson sometimes gets overshadowed, but he’s a great player in his own right. A 6-4 wing with a good frame to continue adding strength to, he’s a knockdown shooter who was 47.4% from behind the arc this season. He can defend any perimeter spot, obviously shoots it at a high level, and can create his own looks. He’s headed to play college ball at Nebraska Wesleyan.
Noah Erickson Noah Erickson 6'3" | SF Mount Vernon | 2020 State IA | SF | Mount Vernon | 70
Erickson is a springy 6-3 wing who knows what he’s good at and doesn’t play outside himself. He’s not a great shooter (just 1-9 from 3 on the year), but he excels at attacking the rim and finishing, sometimes even at really odd angles. He has good length, can defend multiple positions and is an efficient scorer.
Treyton Sturgeon Treyton Sturgeon 6'4" | SF Pella | 2020 State IA | SF | Pella | 71
An athletic, rangy 6-4 wing, Sturgeon has great length and can do a little bit of everything on the floor. He led the Dutch in rebounding and averaged 14.4 points a game.
Tyler Schrepfer Tyler Schrepfer 5'11" | SG Clear Creek-Amana | 2020 State IA | SG | Clear Creek-Amana | 76
A confident lefty shooter, Schrepfer helped lead CCA to a third place finish in 3A this season. The 5-11 guard shot just under 43% from behind the arc and led the Clippers in assists. He has a bit of an old man’s game, using good footwork and ball fakes to help free himself up for open looks.
Jaylen DeVries Jaylen DeVries 6'3" | SF Clear Lake | 2020 State IA | SF | Clear Lake | 101
The 6-3 small forward will play football at the next level, but he had a really strong senior season and deserved some recognition. A do-it-all forward, he led the Lions in rebounding and dished out a team-high 128 assists. The fact that he can pass it shouldn’t come as a surprise since he’ll play quarterback at Southern Illinois.
Deric Fitzgerald Deric Fitzgerald 6'0" | SG Sergeant Bluff-Luton | 2020 State IA | SG | Sergeant Bluff-Luton | 102
Fitzgerald is a knockdown shooter who shot 43.2% from behind the arc for the 3A runner-up Warriors. A 6-0 shooting guard who can also handle the ball a bit, he made an impact on the defensive end of the floor as well, swiping a team-high 38 steals.
Marcus McCray Marcus McCray 6'1" | PG Sioux City West | 2020 State IA | PG | Sioux City West | 111
An athletic, efficient 6-1 lead guard, McCray led the Wolverines in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals while putting up 57-42-74 shooting splits.
