The Lancers were able to lead from start to finish to secure a win one final time during the season. CVCA was able to make a second-half run, cutting the Gilmour lead to just three points midway through the third quarter. The potent Gilmour offense led with the fastbreak attack was too much for the Royals to overcome, leading to a 60-49 win for the Lancers.

The senior guard did it all for the Lancers Friday night. He didn’t just lead the team in points, he also led the team in assists while forcing two turnovers on the defensive end as well. Connor O’Toole Connor O’Toole 6'2" | PG Gilmour Academy | 2020 State OH has established himself as one of the best 3-point shooters in the area, but that’s just one part of his game that makes him such an impact player. He does it all, including taking a charge in the second quarter during the win as well. He’s got elite court vision and knows how to make some of the flashiest passes in the area. Some notable offers include Army, Lake Erie and Walsh at the moment for O’Toole.

Gilmour challenged Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (CVCA) all night long, including holding a lead from start to finish. One bright spot for the Royals was the play from senior forward Austen Williams. He was able to establish himself early on in the game, scoring all eight of the team’s points in the first quarter. Williams was aggressive and trusted his mid-range shot, translating to easy buckets for the senior.

He was just as effective with the ball in his hands then he was moving without the ball Friday night. Miller is a sneaky guard who moves well without the ball and in transition, creating scoring opportunities ahead. He also proved to be a key part of the offense when the ball was in his hands as he was attacking the basket and didn’t shy away from contact. Miller was able to get to the rim a couple of times and fought hard on the glass all night during the win.
St.Vincent-St. Mary vs Orange (Standouts)
The Fighting Irish were able to hold a 24-3 advantage after the first quarter. From there, things didn’t look any better for the Lions as St. Vincent-St. Mary went into halftime with a commanding 37-5 lead. Orange would improve in the second half, but the Irish beat down on the Lions for a final score of 65-22, with a number of different players contributing in big ways.

A dominant first quarter as a team, Branham led the way with 12 points in the opening eight minutes of the game, helping lead the team to five turnovers in the first five minutes of the game as well. He’s a force near the rim and knows how to fight through contact well to finish contested shots. He did it all for the Irish Friday night.

A player that can be overlooked on a team like SVSM, Darrian Lewis had himself a big night in the Irish’s first playoff game Friday night. He finished with seven points, 12 rebounds and six assists while helping shut down the Lions’ most impactful player all night. Lewis has excellent court vision and excels at contributing in more ways than just scoring the ball to help lift the Irish.
