1. Hillside Hornets (8-0)
Last Rank: 1st (↔)
The Hillside Hornets remain unbeaten in Triangle 8 play after going 2-0 since the last edition of power rankings. Trey Crews put up 15 points while 2020 Dr’ake Thompson and 2021 Elijah Thomas put up 11 points apiece in their most recent win over Athens Drive this past Friday. They’ll face off against Riverside-Durham this Friday in what should be a good one.
2. Riverside-Durham Pirates (6-2)
Last Rank: 2nd (↔)
The Pirates have gone 1-1 since the last edition of power rankings were released. They’ve dropped a game to Green Hope on Jan. 17 since starting out strong in Triangle 8 play. Seniors Jikari Johnson and Torian Regis have played well as has sophomore Keyon Webb. They’ll travel to face Cary on Tuesday.
3. Green Hope Falcons (5-2)
Last Rank: 3rd (↔)
The Falcons are slowly climbing up the ranks, though, they’re steady at No. 3 this week. They’ve gone 2-0 since the last edition of power rankings with victories over Cary and Riverside-Durham. Reese Evans is a junior leading the way for Green Hope. They’ve got a big one coming up this Tuesday against Panther Creek.
4. Panther Creek Catamounts (5-3)
Last Rank: 5th (↑1)
The Catamounts have won three games in a row since starting out 0-3 in Triangle 8 action. They’ve reeled off a nice little streak after defeating Jordan this past Friday led by 22 points from 2021 guard Daylen Berry. They’ll look to keep their streak alive on Tuesday when they host Green Hope.
5. Jordan Falcons (4-5)
Last Rank: 5th (↑1)
The Jordan Falcons have gone 1-1 since the last edition of power rankings. They continue to improve while unsigned senior Joaquin Davis controls the paint. Sophomore Max Thornton is finding his way on the perimeter as well. They’ve got Green Level coming up on Friday.
6. Athens Drive Jaguars (2-6)
Last Rank: 6th (↓1)
The Jaguars have hit a bit of a rough patch in Triangle 8 play, losing three games in a row. They’ve lost some tough ones, showing just how hard it’s been replacing their talent from a season ago. They’ll look to right the ship on Tuesday against Green Level.
7. Cary Imps (1-6)
Last Rank: 7th (↑1)
The Cary Imps have lost two games in a row since getting their first conference victory over Green Level back on Jan. 14. Since then, they’ve taken losses to Hillside and Green Hope in Triangle 8. They’ll look to stop the losing steak when they face Riverside-Durham on Tuesday.
8. Green Level Gators (0-5)
Last Rank: 8th (↔)
The Gators remain winless in Triangle 8 action in their inaugural season in the league. Since the last edition, they’ve gone 0-3 in conference action with losses to Riverside-Durham and Panther Creek, two top teams in the Triangle 8. They’ll look to get their first victory on Tuesday against Athens Drive.
